which ones? Effects or synths? What adaptor settings? Have you tried the 'force stereo' option in the adaptor?

Both....and no I haven't tried "force stereo" option.
I'm not even sure it has that one...I don't think it has any options at all.
....unless there's a setting inside sonar.
Can anyone else get synthedit vsti's to work in sonar?

Are you using the Fxpansion wrapper? thats the one I use version 4.0 i think and yes Ive not had any problems running synth edit vsts. I think youi have either a bug somewhere or try to re install them and use a product called Directxer to actually turn Vsts into Dxis its pretty good product but nothing beats running Vsts I somehow lean towards the vst version of stuff whenever I use Sonar except for Native instruments stuff which I think performs better in DXi mode.

Yeah,
I can run just about everything here. Only probmlem is with VSTs that generate MIDI and then I think DirectiXer can settle that.

mr.me quoth Both....
If you can tell me specific ones I can test them. But Ive got a few on my system already that seem to be okay.

It does. When you've done a scan with the VST-DX adaptor, and it shows you the list of all the plugins its found, you can highlight a specific plugin and hit 'Properties'. That lets you change the settings for a specific plugin.
Can anyone else get synthedit vsti's to work in sonar?
Ive also noticed that there's an amended Sonar 4.03 download since the original was first announced. Dont know if its related, but you might want to try that anyways...

Ok, I'm DLing the latest Sonar updat now.
But I've also clicked the "Reset All button" in the adapter options...and "Re-scaning All Plug-ins" doesn't bring back all my VSTi's that are now missing from the instrument list in sonar.
I might just reinstal sonar and start from square one, unless someone knows of an easier way to get my VSTi's to show up in the sonar dxi/vsti list again?
Isn't f**ked up when you try and fix something and f**k it up worse.

Bump!
I reinstalled Sonar and re-scanned my VSTi's, with the right folder directories set...still they don't show up in the list in sonar.
Any tips?

Im not quite sure. Im doing constant reset-and-rescans on my system at the moment since I'm now back to continuing work on my menu tool, SUBSonar. Ive not had the adaptor miss a thing, although Ive had some things get tagged wrong (ie as effect rather than synth) due to the 'default folder settings' (see later)
Are you using a lot of plugins? ie Ive got about 400 including effects, but you're not in the thousands or anything are you?
You could try adding them one folder at a time, see if that helps. And make sure synths are getting enabled as DXis, again by checking the properties as they're found...
Ive also found that if you've changed the 'default folder settings' in the adaptor it can wind up marking everything the same, ie all your synths wind up getting listed as effects. In fact it doesnt seem to work per-folder at all, just one single set of defaults. So check how thats set up.
Also; try using the Plugin Manager off the main Sonar disk and see if some stuff has been marked as Excluded.

So now you are saying all your VSTs are missing?mr.me wrote:Bump!

Or......if it's only some missing....which ones
are missing and which ones are showing?
Any common path etc etc to the ones that are missing?
What is the exact folder structure you are using?
Are all your VSTs in the same Folder?
What is the exact path of that folder?
Many VSTs want to be installed in
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins ....
which makes no sense if you don't have any Steinberg products on your PC.
That's why mine are in C:\Program Files\VstPlugins.
Sometimes when I'm installing a VST(i) I forget to
watch exactly where the installer is trying to put
the VST(i) and it will install in
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins instead.
Then I have to uninstall and re-install in the correct
folder.
Have you checked to make sure you don't have 2 or more
generic VST folders?

I only had DXi's and DX, I had to restore windows to get the VSTi's back in sonar.
It was a big pain in my ass, but now it's resolved. In the process of trying to get shite fixed I deleted about 5 tracks I was very happy with.
At least it's fixed now tho'.
