I swear a thousand Tritons I dont work for cakewalk :) I own way more vst products than I do dxi and to tell you the truth I have no problems with either, but yes if you look at the first post I offered no further comment other than what was taken from cakewalk. it was put there simply stating the benifits of Dxi not how good it is or its better than vst, which is a statement i would not make.

sorry to rag on FL or cubase or Logic cause I have had access to them all and if I could clone myself Ide probley find something to like in each one of them, but there is a fine balance of being creative and being a gear whore and keeping your day job. So much great gear so little time  thats the only thing that pisses me. sorry all for the rants i was lonley a bit and this has amused me a little so i say thanks.

you dont have to apologize to me...unless you were Tom from cakewalk, promised me some nfr's he did...I just thought the 3.0 was a riot...at least I refrained form calling Home Studio "Crapwalk Home Toilet" like I usually do ...but really don't take me too serious...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

DXi does not allow for sending midi out, making certain key features of several plug-ins useless.
That didn't sound right to me, especially since DirectiXer-wrapped plugins do offer that functionality. So I found this page:

Writing an audio plug-in or software synthesizer?

The new DXi 2 soft synth development kit is what you've been waiting for! The SDK provides a wizard that allows you to choose one of two development paths: DXi or straight DirectShow filter.

New Capabilities in DXi 2
- Multiple audio output streams from a DXi
- MIDI output from an MFX or DXi, to the host
- Raw MIDI event processing (e.g. for MTC)
- Flexible, high-resolution time-conversion
- Per-channel patch, note, RPN and NRPN names
- Efficient processing of silent audio buffers
- Pitch marker access
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

I prefer VSTs and AudioUnits, when I am making music I don't want to think of microsoft.

But from now on I'll make sure to clear my posts thru Doug first :help:
I'm sorry, I seem to have missed your request to review this post.

Besides everything else, the #1 disadvantage (IMHO) to DXI is Mac incompatibility. #2 disadvantage (again IMHO) is that there are very few hosts that support DXI other than Cakewalk and FLStudio.

Until these are addressed, DXI will be a poor stepsister to the VSTI standard... and I say this as a Cakewalk and FLStudio user.

That's irrelevant if you don't like Macs.

hehehe My 2 favorite hosts are SONAR and FL Studio.

SO DXi is quite relevant to my setup.

Dxi s rock in a different way as Vsti s, I prefer both and don't promote one over the other...
There are some sounds and approaches to Dxi s I can't stop using vise-versa ...
Pinnacle/Steinberg should be open to this too.
-they were so gong-ho over there way, they lost market share to others because of this(rem ProppellerHeads,Bitheadz, Emagic, Etc.)

Digidesign had to back-step to catch up with no new tale to tell.

I want more Dxi s , more Vst/i s and more hosts.

Some people only have tunnel-vision (good for you) not for me ...we're only at the beginning of these technologies, learn. {I won't go back to older ways and hard synths unless theres a function I need in those for creativity}
