Thanks xander; it seemed to go down well when I posted it last month. Honestly, I would be so honoured if it made the CD. I love you guys......xander wrote:Donny it's great man!Another part of the segue! Sickles gonna like these as melds to his opening piece

If they're going to be mastered / level matched they should really be 24 or 32 bit wavs or aiffs..Hovmod wrote:For a CD, wouldn't you want uncompressed files?
Where should they be uploaded?

For now, just get them done and mixed/EQ'd as well as you can and post them here. I'll download to my DAW. If you want to compress, it's OK but leave about a -2DB overhead (for now).Hovmod wrote:For a CD, wouldn't you want uncompressed files?

If you decide to do a remix, or changes/adds, lemme know with a link to the updated track. I'll double check with everyone.
SO far, all the tracks indicate no major hassels with EQ on my DAX monitors, so the mastering may very well be an enjoyable experence..

That's what I was thinking.IIRs wrote:If they're going to be mastered / level matched they should really be 24 or 32 bit wavs or aiffs..Hovmod wrote:For a CD, wouldn't you want uncompressed files?

So someone has to set up a place where we can upload these biggies...
edit: ...xander, I didn't mean "use a compressor", I meant wavs or aiffs, not compressed to mp3 or the like.

You can take the 169 off the title, that's an artifact of downloading from the auditorium. Hm, anyone know how to stopt that?...xander wrote:Updated Song List - Katrina Virtual Relief CD

And remember it's a preliminary mix. I'll be doing a final mix over the next few days. And, yes, it would probably be best to have non-compressed files for the final. I suppose details about final contributions will be forthcoming.
Oh, and thanks for the comment, ...xander!

Ultimately, you should be (if possible) either 24 or 32 wavs or aiffs. But it's OK even of you want to compress & dither to 16 bit and submit a 193kbps mp3. MAke sure your levels are limited with a smack-on -2db.IIRs wrote:If they're going to be mastered / level matched they should really be 24 or 32 bit wavs or aiffs..Hovmod wrote:For a CD, wouldn't you want uncompressed files?

I'll advise on any changes later that a mastering house may want, but that should answer most requirements.

That's what it was made for. I 'channel' when I compose, ie; I shut my conscious mind off as much as possible and let whatever's underneath come out. I think 'Sanitize' is both appropriate and prescient for Katrina's destruction.

Yes indeed -- 24 or 32 bit either format is preferable.Hovmod wrote:That's what I was thinking.IIRs wrote:If they're going to be mastered / level matched they should really be 24 or 32 bit wavs or aiffs..Hovmod wrote:For a CD, wouldn't you want uncompressed files?

For those who cannot do this and can only do mp3 or ogg, talk to me about how we can integrate your song.
Upload mp3 or ogg to this thread for listening.
I'll get it together for the upload host for the final big wav/aiff files and let everyone know. Hopefully we can get a mastering house or someone good with a fair bit of free time to donate for it.
