Man, the cliche response...it's sad as well...I dont remember anyone calling tascam or otari, neeve or mackie ect, and saying if you don't change the color I'm not buying it....I suggest with the amount of sales FL has they wont miss yours much, in fact it seems too me the only one who will get hurt is you are the one not getting the benefits of FL...because you don't like how it looks...personally I more care about the benefits of an app, and it's sound....what it looks like is up to the dev, not me it doesn't change anything about my workflow....forgive me but I have heard this silly lame argument so many times...

Those skinning 'requests' are quite funny indeed... as is FL becoming 'bloated and convoluted' if PDC and freeze were to be added...

Now that Gol is introducing a solution for PDC, does that mean it's 'bloated'?

And no, PDC isn't 'marketing hype', it's a solution for working with plugins that introduce delay to the signal chain.

Apologies beforehand to those who take offense to generalisations, but somehow comments like these make me wonder about the typical FL users every time... (yes, of course none of you in here belong to the majority of its users!

)

(And this is meant with no disrespect to ImageLine or Gol, the usual disclaimer because someone's bound to twist this around again)

Just to pipe up. I would really like FL to get a face lift too. Only because I never liked the way it looked in the first place. The way it looks does affect the way you feel and that does affect the music you make.

For what it's worth (not much) I personally love the FL look/colour scheme. Its "coolness" is one of the things that attracts me as a potential FL customer

Considering the other software I own (Live 5, Reason, Tracktion 2, Adobe Audition, Sibelius) I don't "need" FL, but I'm attracted to it as an *alternative* place to make music for fun. And for teaching my students, because it's a bargain, and it's in their price range. I love the image

I'd rather it had an autopunch feature for recording audio tracks...

I wish there was just at least just ONE 'official' light skin for FLStudio.

I understand the fact that 99.99% of users end up making shit themes for software that's skinnable, but having the option of a lighter look to FL would be great.

As full and automatic PDC as possible would be the ultimate solution that everyone would vote for--I believe even Gol. However, that isn't going to happen soon, because it will take a lot of rewrite work on the code base to do that. Gol has already stated that he wants to implement as much a Full PDC as possible, but it's not going to be easy, and it will take time. This is a WONDERFUL interim solution. We all will hope for more in the future. Gol said he is interested in doing more in the future. This solution will be a great start.

I'm rambling...

Actually the grey of FL is excellent for long sessions in front of the monitor. It reduces glare and eye-strain. Indeed, quite a few of the other big apps now have dark interfaces, as does this forum...what does that tell you?

Use Picasa or any image editing software and simply apply a consistent "curves" setting to all the images in your "Default" folder (well, make a copy and then do it). Instant light skin. I like FLS the way it is, but wouldn't mind having a sepia-toned version just for the occasional giggle. Picasa will batch a very nice sepia tone setting and it's free.

GOL, I loved to see another feature in FLS:

A sort of Reason`s combinator, Lives or Project 5`s device chains for Fruity`s own and VST Plugins...especially 3OSC, TS404 and similar Fruityplugins doesn`t have effects at all...most of especially synth sound need some effects...and it would be very cool to be able to save them TOGETHER!!!

Vsti could be load in a fxchannel and could be triggered by MidiOuts, so that you can save an mixerchannel, but this doesn`t work with Fruitys generators so what about a kind of wrapper which is loadable in the stepsequencer in which I `m be able to load a generator and a few effects as "inserts" and which can be saved as channel state, so that you can restore easily good sound-effects combinations...

That would be very nice for FLS

I did actually do a gamma batch on a custom directory using Photoshop. The problem is that not everything is contained in that skins folder. The background bars, the playlist graphics, etc. So you end up with a mixture of light and dark.

that's true, for 4.0 and 4.5 I had Blue skins for the most part...FL5 came out and I thought "why waste my time?" It still produces music just as well believe it or not...

Yes, but I'm still of the mind that the colour scheme has an impact on how you 'perceive' sound. Seriously. Loading an audio track in eXT, I can see the waveform. I know mathematically that it sounds the same regardless of the skin, but the 'feel' of the music seems different depending on whether it's a light skin "bright, crisp", or a darker one "fuller, more rounded".

Psychology, not math, in play. You know how you feel when the sun is out compared to when the sky is overcast and dark?

FL feels like rainclouds on a cold dark night...

I'm also an expert on wines... "fuller, more rounded, with a burst of cherry and ripe water chestnuts, luvvie"...
