Glad to see how this thread has developed!

ModuLR, you rock for sticking to your guns on this.

This is not to take anything away from Jorgen. After all, the poor guy gets pummeled with feature requests and bug reports 24-7, and still manages to amaze us all.

But as a fellow Echo audio fan (jeez, I own a Layla and an IndigoIO!), I am eternally grateful for your (and all the other squeaky wheels!) persistence.

Worse here with my RME Digi 96/8. I play just a wav in an audio part of the sequencer, and if I play it again and again, I have more and more crackles !
I'm going back to previous version and try to change my video card, for in my view there is a graphic problem...

I've got a STAudio DSP24 Value card and got crackles all the time, even with the new beta. That is, until I installed Asio4all and properly configured it. Now it's supersmoothe down to 128 samples. I've tried 64 but no go.
Next week I'll get my new E-MU 1212M card with Emulator X!

Having been using the latest beta for a while with the new asio.dll I've had big problems - in fact I've reverted to the old asio.dll and ASIO4ALL in the meantime.

The new version did make working with Echo's native ASIO drivers smoother than ever before but it does render eXT very very sluggish to the point of being unusable (at a very moderate CPU load). The recent changes (whatever they were) seem to have gone a bit too far and have seriously crippled the GUI's performance for quite a few people as far as I can gather from the postings here and on other topics.

It's also been mentioned elsewhere that eXT no longer respects the Windows "Show Window Contents When Dragging" setting when dragging - I hope this will be fixed too.

Any other opinions (in particular from Echo users) after a longer period of time using the latest beta?

So is the new version of asio.dll hunky dory for everyone then?

Post

Not for me, Ihave noticed some problems occasionally, so sometimes revert to the previous asio.dll.

* * Tip * *
I have renamed the previous asio.dll to "B asio.dll" then I can select either one from the Set up window, then reselect my ASIo driver

It makes no difference to me .
I can reproduce the bad gui performance with both .

@DarkStar, yeah, that's a useful tip, I had it set up that way too whilst comparing and testing 8)

But, at the end of the day though I've just reverted to the old driver and ASIO4ALL again. eXT should, like almost every other audio based application, just work OK. That element of doubt is really not practical or confidence inspiring - definitely for live work which I desperately want to use it for.

Can't help thinking that the fact that eXT uses a non-standard GUI is a major pointer but there have been performance issues unresolved for over a year (bar some tweaks that have helped with the symptoms). Hasn't stopped eXT being core to working and totally insprirational though :-) It's just a bit frustrating.

@Jens, any problems your end since with the new driver?

@plastique, :-)

Darkstar how much ram do you have?
The following statement is true.
The previous statement is false.
