This is a very raw sketch of a plug i did with synthedit this morning.
You can only use notes from E4 to something upper (i don't remember, but it should be 23 semi upper, as guitar as 22 cases). E4, because it needs to be fixed. should be E1.

Anyway. I'd like to know if sounds - a little - authentic to you.

What I like is the fact that it sounds different at each stroke, and seems not too hungry on cpu (it has only one string for now, so i guess this could change...).

it's still buggy (in sound, not prog itself. it won't crash your computer  )

- it sounds better at low velocities, as it clips easily.
- only first string is available.
- you can drag mic and pick positions.

it's not sample based.
It's not "intensive waveform blending work" based either.
I just had an idea of how to make a string emulation, did it, and it miraculously sound close to a string (to me). that's why it can be improved a lot, with more sound skulpting options; but i just want to konw if it sounds nice enough to deserve to go further.

download it here

you can bash it, as it only took a few hours to be done, I won't cry too much...
:D

cheers

Ohh.. sounds just like a real guitarist. You know, once you've gotten the bastard playing he'll never shut up.

Bravo! Realistic guitar simulation then ;)

yes, i put a synthedit step sequencer to try it myself. sorry.
if you want to "stop it", just make a one step pattern with 0 velocity instead of 100 or 60 as it is now.
or go to "n°-1" pattern.

you see?

guitarist here. you've captured the raw electric sound. it needs a real adsr. i don't know why that's left out of some emus. i hope you pay attention to other details of the guitar sound and technique. do you play? i wonder why more don't. it's easy to play any instrument really. you just have to want to and don't believe the hype

First thing I noticed was that it sounded like 2 year old dead guitar strings. Not trying to be mean, that was my honest impression.

And yes, I did try changing the controls to get a better sound. Good start, but you have more work still to do-as you know! :)

Regards,

it's been some weeks i didn't looked at it, because i finished tatapoum, and also for other reasons.
I'll return to it, but i'm trying to find some ways to make it more efficient.

back to topic :

I added a string choice list and a string color knob, to make it more versatile.

Post

ok, i made some changes (added 3 mics, possibility to choose between single coils or double coil mis, whammy bar, global damp, and finished the 5 last strings).

HERE is an mp3 demo.

I just made a raw record out from synthedit, changing patches manually to give different sound examples.
so it may click between patches.

there's no amp sim, no eq or anything. just the plug, with a very simple midi pattern made in synthedit step seq.

it'll have to playing modes : normal, or "realistic", wich means strings will be mapped on 6 channels, so that you can use it like a real guitar, and it would make it a very good combination to my upcomming guitar sequencer.

of course, each string is mono...

to me, it sounds quite authentic, but it might be because your baby is always the most beautiful...

Post

it sound very good... it could be very useful

thanks :D

Post

tu es français aussi?
thanks. it seems you're the only one to like it.
or maybe is it to early in the afternoom.

or maybe because it's made with synthedit.
or maybe because it's not very good...

i'll make a bass too.

it has less strings, so will be more cpu friendly. (i'm not kidding!)

and before one ask, if i release it, it won't be free.

And i remind you that the downloadable version is an old one (2 days ago), with only one string, and less settings, and worst sound.
