I have the money for what I need but I dont want to buy any overkill or worthless plugins. I have chosen to go with the UAD-1(is this a misteak?)ultra-pak and purchase some additional plugs from waves. Which waves plugs should I go with? I do hiphop and r&b music. I tried the trial of the platinum bundle(no worth all the money to me) and found it usefull in some aspects and some of the plugs were useless to me. I am new at this maybee its me and the amount of experience I have, but I do know when something sounds good and I only want the best for my studio. I use windows, cubase sx3,emulator x(emu),hypersonic, reason3.0., and daorgan(linplug). I make good music now but with the right tweaking I may be able to get somewhere.
If anyone can give me advise i'll be very thankful.

I've got both and I wish I didn't waste the money on Waves. The Uad -1 plugs sound SO much better. I have 3 cards now and own all of the Plug-ins. The only thing lacking at this point is a really good delay. I'd by the UAD-1 maybe an extra project pack to get the second card and any plug-ins that don't come with your bundle. Then I'd buy the PSP-84 delay and be done with it.delano517 wrote:I have the money for what I need but I dont want to buy any overkill or worthless plugins. If you want more variety, I'd look at Voxengo plugs rather than Waves.

I second that. UAD, voxengo, poco if you want great reverbs (although if its only plate reverb you want, the UAD plate 140 is great) like e.g. vss3 or dvr2.

Voxengo has a free delay that sounds nice, ohmforce ohmboyz sounds good and is extremely (read: insanely) flexible

Is it Ronin from the same guys that did the timefunk? That's very cool little delay there, not as complete as those others, but i use it very often.
Still, for the record, i think the waves R suite is really good, and quite unique soundwise, i mean not so easily replaced. The guy at the studio where we recorded last week slapped the rbass around my tracks and was i amazed, i never heard anything like that, enhances a lot without sounding like shit, maybe it was just the big studio doing the trick for me, but i sincerely think i never heard a plugin quite like that. And nowadays it's not something that happens every time. I usually shunned from enhancers, but this changed my mind, heard voxengo made one recently, will try the demo.
Other goodies in the suite i'd say the Rvox, which is a one-knob comp that easily rounds everything up.
Also the eqs are cool in the way that you can very easily alter the eq for the left and the right channel, creating some cool stereo effects, i mean al l eqs should have this, developers, take note!
These plugins imo have got a bit of character, not totally clinical, but i like it : )

You do know that UA are developing a model of the Roland tape delay? Patience and you will have the ultimate set, damn I envy you!! Grrr... I might have to come and steal your setup!Guitarjeff wrote: I've got both and I wish I didn't waste the money on Waves. The Uad -1 plugs sound SO much better.
