The issue with virtual domains on SOME servers, and I don't know if it really IS an issue on your; when you dial in the site, does it show the primary name of the site. Say we use www.katrinareliefcd.com and someone clicks on another page to the site, will it still list it as www.katrinareliefcd.com/otherpage or does it revert back to the primary site with a subdirectory? Again, some visitors want to know they haven't left the site they meant to go to, and this could worry them. But if it doesn't have this problem(which is probably the case), then we can use the space.
As for the Paypal account, and this is JUST my opinion for the sake of proof and reporting, I think we need to start a seperate PayPal account that has katrinarelief in the name or something. Maybe this will be too much hastle, but a PayPal account only takes a couple days to get started and everything confirmed and such.
I don't want to make this more complicated then it needs to be, but just want to be safe.
When morning comes, maybe some people could give their opinions on this all.
kovacs, thanks for the offer. We may end up using it! Let me know what you know or find out about the virtual hosting.
Still need another form of payments, does anyone agree? Paypal is big, but not EVERYONE uses it. If we could get on at CDbaby they would handle it, but I'm not sure of the costs there, never used it.

I just got a reply from my ISP which was slightly cryptic but basically said "yes, virtual domains will work". But if that should fall through I'll personally sponsor a site for the duration of this project.koolkeys wrote:kovacs, thanks for the offer. We may end up using it! If the domain you suggested is fine for everyone, I'll register it (unless someone else feel like it).

Oh, and as for the paypal thingy: Yes, we should set up a separate paypal account for this. If desired we can of course also try other solutions.

To speed things up I registered katrinareliefcd.com and will try to get it set up ASAP.
Now we need someone to help build the site.

As I've followed the news in the various threads and this one; my contribution will be in buying the CD (and donating to the redcross). I have thought of offerening a track, but for some reason felt inadequate atm to come up with a fitting tribute. I'd rather jump on the plane and offer my bare hands to help rebuild and clean up if it were possible.

This is what happens when you use HTTP redirection / forwarding with URL masking. Some ISPs offer cheap hosting deals; if the company you buy the domain name from also hosts the site it should be okay. Oh, the joys of DNS...koolkeys wrote:The issue with virtual domains on SOME servers, and I don't know if it really IS an issue on your; when you dial in the site, does it show the primary name of the site. Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

We get a "real" virtual domain apparently (what a term!) but it seems it will cost me $5/month. But that's a small price to pay for a lot of good service (I use Liquidweb).Danny Darko wrote:This is what happens when you use HTTP redirection / forwarding with URL masking. I'm mixing and fixing my song, and was wondering about the mastering - does whoever's doing the mastering want me to take the multiband comps off the track and post a completely unmastered version? Because that makes a big difference to the relative levels of the instruments in this relatively simple song...

Hovmod ===> We'll announce the upload format for the songs soon. Just do your song as you normally would without *final* comp/loudness. So, you can certainly mulitband comp, etc., but don't final when you do it (don't dither yet and leave at least a -2db overhead) and if this changes I'll tell everyone. Glad to have you aboard mate!
Welcome also to Krim!
Lemme know?
