Tabbed views as well! Now all of Sonars features are available in one single interface. Pretty impressive stuff.

You can see the influence from Roland, and even more so, Ediol in this update. The Edirol video expertise is having an effect.
This is really nice for those that don't already own the rgc:Audio plugs. I do, but I'm still happy for those who don't.

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

Pure Space looks a lot like Pristine Space Light (actually, it looks different but has exactly the same command set...). I wonder if Cakewalk licensed it from Alecksey at Voxengo...
If so, it was a good idea.

Just did the upgrade to 4 with the free 5. I'm very excited about the Roland vocal stuff. Gonna be very useful on some tracks. I have Ob tune but never install it anymore. I also really enjoy the Pentagon 1 sound. Gonna love that too. I'm gonna sit outside and wait for the Fed Ex man.

The BitBridge thing looks very interesting... Pretty much what I had been proposing would be developed... Wonder what the performance hit is like for 'bridged' plugins. Now if I could just get a goddamned upgrade to XP64

Nice, I am so psyched. I couldn't imagine it getting any better than Sonar 4, but now: per clip effect bins, inline MIDI editng, a 64-bit mix engine, a convolution reverb...and HA...NATIVE VST SUPPORT...What will ya'll bitch about now?
I'm glad the c major scale was invented before copyright law

my suspicion is the hit for 32 bit plugs will be pretty close to the cpu gains from a 64 bit host in a 64 bit os
but once more 64 bit plugs are done - it will be huge
but then again what do i know ?
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Well.. I believe a lot of the bundled plugins for Sonar have been recompiled for 64 bit.. And get MAJOR performance advantages from this too...ericj23 wrote: but once more 64 bit plugs are done - it will be huge

I'm pretty sure that a 32 bit plugin running via BitBridge won't run any faster than under XP32 though... But I know about the same as you

I dunno, I'm underwhelmed after a pass through the features.
Live 5 set a new level of upgrade satisfaction for me, and now this just looks like Cake keeping up with the Jones, or Jonesing for the convolvers, or...
64 bit will eventually matter, and I guess that the hosts have to bite the bullet and go first. So I *cough* commend their efforts?? VST should have happened a year or two ago. Whatever.
I'll be happy to continue w/ PE4, methinks.

I'd like to get "out" of pe3 (a dog/waste of cash imho) and into a better version.....but since I'd have to cough up an additional 50 bucks........
Well, I might anyways...............

that's pretty impressive I must say... and usually I can't do much of anything with the sonar demos. Can't wait til they release it to give it a go (again).
