which version do you have? the old 500+mb version or the leaner 220mb version props just recently uploaded?

I need a http or ftp link (w/ resuming) on the leaner version if anyone has one..

i am downloading now just for fun. according to BitComet i have 28 minutes to wait

ah, Krim, good question. for those cats who do not know, Bit Torrent is one of the newschool p2p networks. without going into a lotta detail, you need yourself a BitTorrent client (i use BitComet it is nice and totally free

). once you have a BT client installed on your machine, you give the client .torrent files. the .torrent files basically tell your client software how to get the files.
the main advantage of BT is it is FAST FAST FAST.
Example: my download just finished, took like 12 minutes and 8 seconds to pull 215 MB

about the "new version" i just got:
it's a 215 MB zip file which unzips to a 220 MB file called rebirth_iso_installation.iso
this ISO has all the extra junk found on the untouched retail CD: Direct X 5 installer (LOL), Adobe Acrobat 3, Sounds Good demos,HLD installer, Modpacker installer, as well as the 130 MB DAT file, so this version still has the rubbish copy protection. i think what they did was seperate the Mac and Windows versions of the CD, effectively halving the size. it's a shame they didn't trim the fat, it coulda been 144 MB

No, but I did market research for a while. I think the difference in size is (B) 250-500mb

It just took just under 15 minutes here, using a 'supposedly' 512k broadband connection (it's recently been giving download speeds more like a 1 or 2 mb connection

)

Hm, it's taking me around 40 minutes on a DSL 2000 (so that's 2mbit) line, but the best I'm getting is around 180kbps usually.

Hi Sacha,
Using the 215mb download link given by SleepyP, and Bit Torrent 4.0.4, my average speed was about 220kbps.

i've got residential cable through TimeWarner, a service called RoadRunner, in Ohio, USA. the advertised line is i think 5 mbps downstream, 378 kbps upstream. if i remember right the BT download of ReBirth averaged about 200~230 KB/second.
i THINK that BT works by splitting the file(s) into multiple smaller pieces and then sending those independent of one another as fast as possible (i.e. "i can get piece #82 from Joe BT user right now, so let's get it!"), and that multiple pieces can be downloaded simultaneously from different people, so that 200 KB is probably like a bunch of 10~30 KB connections working simultaneously.
