Crisis in New Orleans

Almost immediately after the scope of the tragedy was known calls and Email from across the country flooded the Local web site. Numerous organizations and individuals have contacted the Local as well as the AFM and assistance and relief efforts are currently being organized. First and foremost however is that we know that our members are safe and how we can locate and contact them. We have provided a link to a contact database. This is open to all musicians affected by this unprecedented tragedy. We urge all our members to add their contact information to the above list as well as contacting the Local via Email at musicun@bellsouth.net

Any interested in helping with our efforts can also contact us at the preceding address or contact the American Federation of Musicians through their web site at www.afm.org

Together we can help rebuild New Orleans and the neighboring gulf coast communities that were so horribly damaged by the storm, and in particular bring back the music that is so vital to the identity of the City of New Orleans.

I think we should donate all the proceeds from this CD to a music organisation in New Orleans.

BTW, this project is a winner. I spoke to some colleagues at work and they instantly said "tell me when the preorder page is up". If we can get that up pretty fast we can probably rack up at least 75 preorders within a week.

Here's what we could do: Have our Flash designer make a cool flash animation and have a Presales "countup". "Currently we have X preorders. We need 100 to produce the CDs. Please help us out and preorder today!"

And I think we should have a disclaimer: If for some reason the project falls short, we will donate all preorder money to the intended recipient. Ie, no returns.

I put up a temporary page. The mail for the domain is not yet working so I put my own e-mail there so people outside of KVR can get in touch if they want.

That's not quite right...

we sold about 300 CD's (quite a few were sent as promo's to radio stations, magazines... etc)... I was left with 600 CD's (which TR Cymru are relaunching in january)... just to warn you the people from KVR only bought 75 CD's... so if your planing a large number of CD's then make sure you have alternative sale channels available... we made up the numbers through selling to friends and family.

Oh.. and although I paid for the initial print run.. I got the money back...

... (though i did donate some money to the project) and as said.. after costs we made 750 quid for charity...

But it would have been more if we hadn't had over ordered...

Can someone do a 30 sec audio notice for the radio shows. I'll play it on the hour.I tried but I don't have the skills.It would have to include the kovacs web address.

I am working on a tune called "relentless" I could post a draft copy tonight and finish it within a week or so.

Anything else the radio show can do, let me know.
