I was just trying to be amusing.
As to WHY: I think it's fair to say that several members were becoming increasingly concerned that the monthly contest - which was supposed to be for the fun of it and possibly to learn a thing or two (you've been here longer than I) - was becoming too achievement-oriented with several incidents recently involving members impetuously accusing each other of foul play of one sort or another. In light of those events and the general supposition that the voting process is marred by individuals who don't make a good-faith effort to consider all entries and/or misinterpret the spirit of the enterprise as well as the growing charge that prizes actually taint the endeavor seem to have forced our weary moderator to temporarily suspend the competitive aspect of the monthly competition.
I think that's the longest sentence I've ever written.

Beardedone -- Excellent entry! On a lot of your contest pieces, I find there's too much bass / low tonality that muffles the overall sound for me. This is nice and clear, so the tune's qualities are all there to be heard. Very nice use of subtle sounds and rythyms, plus the usual strong melodic work. Nice to see someone making full use of the 4 mins., too.

Thanks Kephira!
I spent more than the usually amount of time fussing with the mix, especially onthe Square 1 (polymod patch) sound. Fortunately Inspector XL was big help. I have a pair of Event Studio Precision 8 acitives that have a very good bass response and I have found that it is easy to overdo the bass - I am learning that a little bass goes a long way.

Gordon

Ok, I have been putting my curiousity on hold since joining this forum but now I really got to know - what in Minimonsta's name does 'slainte' mean?

What's all that Rob? Have I missed something again?
Gordon, did you do the Inspector XL 1.0.1 update? I didn't notice any problems with headroom readings, but I really like those displays. I get mesmerized just watching them.

Yup. I don't understand all of the various tools but the neadroom and stereo image displays I find very useful - but I still listen in the dark to see if the image is good.
