Do you still need copy other than what's on the web site already?
Haven't heard if expanded copy is needed, so I kind of fluffed up what's on the web site already. Use this or not . . .

The Musicians for Katrina Relief CD Project is a coalition of international musicians using their art to raise funds in support of the victims of hurricane Katrina. 100% of the profits raised by this project will be donated to [blah, blah, blah].

The all-original music presented on this professionally manufactured 2-CD set will be a compilation of work written, recorded and produced by the members of the KVR forums. For further information on this project, please check out the forum thread at KVR.

Pre-orders for the Musicians for Katrina Relief CD will soon be available on this page.

If you would like to help the project in any way, please contact us at kovacs@hypography.com

And, of course, add hiper links as needed.

Thanks emdot, just what I needed. :D Now we just need to fill in the blah blah blah part.

2) Someone needs to decide the actual target for the income (ie, who gets our money). I think our US friends should do that. Some musician organization down in NO was suggested - find us a good cause and let's decide upon it.

3) Someone needs to set up a paypal account - I can do it if that's okay with everyone here - you will simply have to trust me... :) I am not going to run away with the money...plus I have a US bank account so it's easy for me to transfer money from my PayPal account into any relief fund.
1. $25 sounds good to me. Shipping included is also good.

2. I would like to see the funds going to the Salvation Army, but a music organization could work as well.

3. That sounds good to me if you are willing to handle that. Perhaps a business account could be setup with the name "Katrinareliefcd". It would look more professional.

My votes for filling in the [blah, blah, blah] would be for either the Red Cross or the Salvation Army. Personally I'd love to make it a worthy musician's organization but I think the Red Cross and Salvation Army will generate more sales. Unless you're a music geek . . . like many of us . . . helping a musician's organization isn't going to spark a lot of interest :(

I've started inquiries to see what the corporation I work for will allow me to do as far as soliciting for pre-orders and/or regular sales. Could end up being a major opportunity . . . or could end up being a red-tape waste of time.

Okay, site updated and "preorders accepted soon" text added.

Salvation army sounds good - but I think we would make more of an impact if the money actually went to musicians in New Orleans or something...not that I know exactly how that would help...so I agree with SA and also RC. Maybe actually the Salvation Army because I have already donated to the RC... :)

I'm working on getting the e-mail for the domain to work. It should have been setup yesterday but I am checking with my ISP why that didn't happen. Probably just a glitch.

I suggest we use "orders@katrinareliefcd.com" as our main PayPal address.

I agree that while a musicians organization would be great that one of the larger organizations that people at large already know about would probably be better to people that arent musicians. Red Cross or Salvation Army sounds like the best bet. Also, good luck with the soliciting emdot.

I've a soft spot for the Salvos and the Musician's Local in New Orleans, but maybe it's personal I suppose. Those are my thoughts. I must go to sleep now.

Peace be with you all. See you again in a few.

Good point about the generating sales part. Between red cross and salvation army, my vote is with the salvation army. They were some of the first on scene in New Orleans and they directly help people by feeding and clothing. They just seem more grassroots than the red cross.

I also vote for the Salvation Army. And they can carry a tune, too (well, most of them anyway). :)

I suggest we use "orders@katrinareliefcd.com" as our main PayPal address.
Cool, let us know when that email is ready.
That paypal address looks good, run with it.
Are you cool with accepting the funds?
If so then we can get started very soon! :)

I'm going to bed now. Will catch up tomorrow morning - if the e-mail for katrinareliefcd.com is not up by then, I suggest we start using the e-mail "katrinareliefcd@hypography.com" as our PayPal address, then we can change it later. I don't want the lack of an e-mail addy to stop us...

Also, just sent a note to a friend who's a DJ on WEBR Fairfax (a narrowcast radio station in the Northern Virginia/DC area) to see how best we could use them for marketing. This is a non-commercial station broadcasting on the web and on the community bulletin board channels of the Cox Cable of Fairfax, VA and Comcast Cable of Reston, VA.

Not sure if we could run a free Community Service Announcement or not . . . would kind of be cool for <<ahem>> someone to do a mash-up or meddley of some of the entries and then a voice-over giving the "Who, What, When, Where, Why" in 15 - 30 seconds :)

Here is why I don't want to give money to the salvation army.
