So? How many diff sounds can you get from that that you cant get elsewhere and use in a better environment? None.

I'll go out on a limb and say, yeah thank you Props for the freebie, but I can understand why it is free. Programming melodies on these bastards is a pain in the ass...technology is a good thing. I'll take a piano roll any day.

I went through great lengths to download the image and burn the CD..only to find that Rebirth belongs in a museum.So much for the power of free!!! What I did gain though was a newfound appreciation for the artists who created great music using the original hardware.I even have to respect those that did it using Rebirth.We have it so easy nowadays.With products like Tracktion I jumped right in without refering to the manual...but I am still scratching my head with Rebirth.I got it up and running via Rewire with Tracktion and Acid but have yet to make anything that sounds like music.Viva VST!!!!!

I downloaded the big ReBirth file(500mgb), burned to CD, and it works fine. Thanks Propellerheads

I see now there is a smaller file avaliable now(200mgb.) Does anyone know what the difference is between the two?

Still one of the nicest 303s to my ears too...

Then again I may be biased as Rebirth was my doorway into PC music making. Now if only someone would release a VST of Octamed!

took me an evening and the time while I slept but I downloaded it through the torrent on my dialup. oi.

I waited a while for things to even out, then finally d/l-ed the Windows version this morning. Took about 45 minutes, plus time to download and install a Bittorrent client. (Not crazy about having to use that but given the slashdotting, etc. it makes sense.) I've burnt it to CD-R but not yet installed it.

Doubt I'll use it a lot, but I do like old software and even play antique C-64 games now and then.

I was worrysome about installing a torrent program on my PC. its gone now though. I dont like the idea of ppl connecting to my pc to download any kind of files

and oh I find rebirth is very useful, meffy. I love the creakyness with low cutoff, full res, and distortion to 10 on a 303. its so creaky!

try it!

I'll probably end up using it for my poopy goa stuff.. plus the different mods have various drumsamples and kits.. so its like getting free drummachines even if one loathe's the 303 units.

I'll give it a shot but it might be some time before there's time. This will sound comical to you young folks, but I never learned these Roland boxes so to me they seem... well, new. Unfamiliar, at least.

I really am a relic of the epoch of Moog Modulars and big complicated ARPs, and in spite of having a fine collection of soft synths and sample players I still feel most comfortable with a bunch of patchcords draped around my neck and knobs under my paws. (However, I'll never again have access to such creatures, so software will do fine.)
