Sorry if posting in a wrong forum.

I need some substitution for the standart MIDI OUT plugin in FLStudio, because it doesn't suit me at all... The main thing I need is an ability to change a list of standart 128 midi instruments. You can't do it in the standart plugin, and it has been a real bother when working with such plugins as, for example, Edirol Orchestra... Can anyone advise anything?

Sorry, if posting in the wrong place, I'm not good in English, so I couldn't understand where to post...

dragging the mouse over the patch window , in channel settings , does precisely that ...
this will cycle through the 128 GM patch set ...

or , perhaps i am not understanding your request ...

cant you just load the plugin into FL as a channel and then place notes in the piano roll ? Or copy and paste the midi file's notes from the piano roll to it ?

im not sure what your asking either.

use a dashboard....use an instrument selector, make your own list and done,,,:D

Hink did understand me. :) I want MY OWN list of instruments. I'm working with Edirol Orchestra which uses MIDI OUT for sound output. The main thing is that Edirol has its own set of instruments, which doesn't match those 128. Thanks, Hink, I'll try that dashboard plugin...

Oh... The manual says: "Dashboard comes with a General MIDI patch selector, Roland XP-30 selector and two selectors which use the installed Cakewalk instrument definitions you have (*.INS). The definitions should be installed in Dashboard's Artwork/Instruments folder."

How to create those *.INI files? What should be inside them?

Post

copy it to your note pad, take out the instrument names from roland (but you probably won't need to as it is GM) and put in the name for your patch, then save it (new name) to the data folder for the dashboard in your fl folder...;)

Copy what? :?: There are no example *.INS files in FLStudio, so I don't know their structure...

OK, I think, I got it. 8) I've managed to create a Dashboard preset with its own set of instruments. There one more thing I want to do.

I've created a patch selector and it works just fine. I can choose instruments with the help of it. But there are no digits, like in MIDI OUT plugin. There I could DRAG the mouse over the patch window and the instruments would change.

The question is: how to attach digits to a patch controller so that when the digits values are changed the patch controllers instruments are changed either?

Sorry for triple posting... :)

Dashboard is super crap! FLStudio crashes after 10 minutes of working with it!!! Aren't there any better plugins?

it has never ever crashed on me...and fwiw most crashes are hardware related...but in all the gripes I have heard about FL I can't say I ever heard of anyone having the dash causing crashing. My main template has a B4 dash I made...something else is hppening...

I suggest you go to fl's tech support, or perhaps looptalk..

Could someone please look at my preset for dashboard? :) Maybe, it is to blame. Maybe I did something wrong and now it crashes all the time.

Even if you haven't got Edirol Orchestral you could test my example with standart GM. I would appreciate your help.

It happened again! :x I just typed a few notes, and then tried to save the file and FL crashed and spoiled the whole FLP file!

Dashboard has crashed my FL more than 3 times. When I started to use my hardware synth a couple of months ago I was planning to use the Virus Dashboard available, BUT it crashed so many times I end up using Midi Out with Virus preset.

Midi Out with Virus preset
Where could I find this thing?

Post

when you open a Midi Out plugin, you openj the preset list and you'll find a Virus one.
