hello all, :-)
i just made my first pre-order!
more pre-orders from me will follow!
btw, in case there is real need: as the tracks are too many and as i would REALLY like my track to be included in this cd, i accept that the mastering engineer can cut about 30 seconds(or more maybe?) from the end of my track.
i hope that will help a bit.
best regards, :-)
bakis.

Got it! So now we know the system works, too. Yeah!

I think it's important to inform everyone that the fee for the orders are about $1.15 for US orders and $1.28 for foreign orders...this is deducted from the $25, not added, but it means we get about $23.72 per CD. Not much we can do about fees, I'm afraid... :(

Still it's cheaper than buying a shopping cart solution and accept credit cards via WorldPay or something...

I'm sorry you see me as petty-minded, Alex. Comes with the territory I guess. I was also critical to Mother Theresa, and you can imagine how many agreed with me there... :hihi:

I will of course buy the CD and "donate" the song if the SA should win the vote, but I won't be feeling as good about it. I feel strongly about this. For once, I'm the one asking that my right to have a different view is respected.

So that's clear, yes? I wish to support victims of Katrina, but I don't wish to support the SA. If however SA is chosen, I'll still try to sell the CD, but I'll have to be apologetic about it in stead of enthusiastic. I'm not boycotting or making noise. And I'm not being petty-minded about it at all. It was not me who called for a vote and asked for opinions. OK? :)

Cool banners, Armoor.

I liked your first ad, Alex, and the second one, too.Two things about it, though: Nit-pick first: You don't say "dot" after www. Don't know if this is the convention now or if it matters. People know how to use the internet... Second, you say we're helping to save the city of jazz. It's not only about New Orleans? I like the "musicians helping musicians" angle, but still...

Is totc ready to receive the wavs now? Those of us who are more or less ready could start sending in our songs...

I've just spammed all my colleagues (100+ Norwegians), so hopefully there's a couple of pre-orders there?

I just preordered 10 CDs. The fee comes out to $0.88/CD which is not so bad so I guess there is a percentage fee plus an item fee.

Anyway, we have 11 preorders now. :)

EXCELLENT!!! :D

We're happening!! :)

Everyone -- Just please hang in there. Info on the number of tracks, where to upload them, in what format, etc. will be on it's way.

For now, please just concentrate on your songs to make them as good as they can be. Of course, it goes without saying that if you can shave a few secs off here or there it will help, naturally.

Cheers & Thanks,
Alex ;)

i can re-upload to the auditorium a better mp3 file. mine is 128kbps, but i think an 168 kbps would sound better. ok?

Look -- I want to stop talking about this. I have to add however, for the sake of this effort, that you are entitled to do what you want (take your song and go home, or leave it in) should the majority vote sway for a religious-based charity.

I wonder if you've stopped to consider that no one of a religious nature has complained that they will drop out of the effort if we all vote for an atheist-based charity. So who has the 'narrow mind' here? Think about that.

Regardless, I have nothing against whatever except undue bias, petty argument and philisophical hegemony.

If anyone wants to rave on about this shite, then do it in HPC, not here. OK?

Please let's move on now. Please. :)

It would be much better to send a wav file, preferable un-mastered, and at a high resolution (24 or 32 bit).

smart ftp is an ftp client (File Transfer Protocol) that will run for free for personal use: even though your connection is slow, an ftp transfer will get there in the end and can be resumed if interrupted.. maybe you could leave your mix uploading overnight?

Post

Bakis, if you want, send me a CD with the 24 or 32bit wav file on it - depending on the bitddepth of your project, no need to change the bitdepth to 32 from 24, wont sound any better if it was made with everything 24bit.
PM me if you want to go for it and I'll give you my address (I'm in Munich). Uploading things isn't a problem.

As IIRs says, a 24/32 bit wav or flac file is best for uploading to Koolkeys server. Scroll back and you can find the ftp details.

What we have in the thread are mp3 files that are merely for everyone to listen to and decide upon what tracks they like the best. We will not use these mp3 files on the CD. ;)

Please PM me, Freeztar or Koolkeys if you have any problems.

Cheers & Thanks,
Alex

Damn...I just realized I have a problem. My master track is in 16 bits and I have lost some of the loops used so I cannot recreate it.

Will this be okay...please say yes... :)
