Hi, I am looking for a sofware that could automatically sample hardware synths...i have lots of analog synths I would like to sampple.
I am looking for something to automate the process...just play MIDI notes to MIDI out and record the output from my soundcard...
I 've tried SampleRobot..works but costs a lot and tried a version of Vdumper but the WAV files are unreadable form any editor...
any other suggestion ?
can something like this be done in Cubase (bascially, would mean to write a midi sequence and record each note as a new audio file???)
thx

I've not used SynthEdit, but having seen a lot of stuff done with it and given it a quick look over for programming capabilities, IF I were to attempt such a project this would be my first port of call. I can't see Cubase providing enough automation, although it wouldn't be hard to stream a series of notes at given velocities to a synth and record the wav to a track. Then you're left with a task to cut it all up and name the wave files. I think SynthEdit might have enough power to do that based on naming the file using the note & veloity data.

i am not expert in synthedit stuff but i'll give it a try...

basically, there aren't the right set of modules available for SynthEdit to do what you're talkin about. maybe someday

Yes..!autodafe wrote:can something like this be done in Cubase (bascially, would mean to write a midi sequence and record each note as a new audio file???)
That's exactly the way to do it.
Just record one long audio file as the sequence runs, then edit it into individual notes. You might want to record different velocities as well as pitches (if needed).

Devine Machine is about to release a program that does it, look it up at devinemachine's forum here at KvR. I also need that function, and the method explained above is good though, but a program that does it for you is great of course. samplerobot is too expensive for me.

thanks. I know i can dop it in cubase, but then i would have to cut down the long audio file...i was looking for something that automatically cuts out every note...
I've seen devinemachine stuff, i hope it is ready soon...

I hope so too. The developer told me the price would be much better than Samplerobot's.

i haven't tried it yet, but with EmulatorX you are supposed to be able to play notes and the software will detect and assign the note to the proper key...

another question or questions would be whether the devine machine actually will be comparable feature-wise to Samplerobot.Granted the price for Samplerobot may be a bit on the high side if it does what it claims to do it may very well be worth the price of admission but I don't know since I don't own it yet but I am interested in it as well as the Devine Machine and does anyone here on this forum happen to own Samplerobot?

I don't know Cubase but in Logic there's a function called "Strip Silence" which does exactly this - cuts the long wave into several individual parts, which can be saved as separate wave files.autodafe wrote:thanks. Maybe there's something similar in Cubase...
