UPDATE

I just spoke with cdbaby and the cost will be $4 per cd. I tried to negotiate a lower rate, but no go.
I still think it's a good option. That $4 includes shipping, so the net would be $21 per cd. The hassle for an individual to mail out hundreds of cd's from their home seems a little unrealistic.

i would say that cdbaby is fine. unless someone wants to spend all the required time to go to the post office every now and then to send cd's...
best regards, :-)

Yes, definately the convenience CDBaby offers is great, and I don't think we should lower the cost of the CD. If we're thinking $4 for shipping and handling, and we only charge $21, then only $17 is going to charity. We stay with the same price, but instead of one of us taking the shipping out, CDBaby does it. Keep it $25 or we lose some profit for charity.

One more time(and not the last), here's the FTP info so you don't have to go looking for it.

************NOTE:*******Make sure you upload a full wav file mixdown. If possible AT ALL, don't use mp3 as your upload. Yes, the files are bigger, but that's fine. It helps with the end quality of mastering. Upload AT LEAST 44.1khz and 16 bit*******************

Contact me or post here with any FTP questions or if this isn't a viable option for you.

Oh, and I have only 6 songs so far up, so please start uploading as soon as you have a finished product.

Remember this though. As musicians, it's easy to be picky about our stuff. But keep in mind that it's not necessary to have "hollywood" quality. Please don't get me wrong. It's alright to go as professional as possible. But don't focus so much on your image or production that you forget what this is for. Release yourself knowing that whatever you contribute, the cause is great, and you are helping a great deal. This isn't meant as a publicity project. I don't know of anyone here that is making it that way. But it's human nature. I'm the same way as everyone else. Just trying to keep it in perspective here.

Another thing, about the disputes with the charity. Remember what's important. I take you to a recent story here in Nashville. A local soldier had just came back from Iraq, in a coffin. He was killed in the war. A local church went to have a memorial service for him. However, they ran into complications. There were picketers, protesters, boycotters, etc. You wanna know why? Because the soldier was gay. Yup, some people were SO shallow that instead of helping remember that this soldier gave his life, and his family was left without one of it's members, they chose to picket the church because being gay was "anti-church". It sounds pathetic to me. I'm a devout Christian, and that shames me.

Let's remember here when choosing a charity, that our ONE AND ONLY GOAL is to get aid to those who need it. So we should choose the organization that will get it there the best way and the fastest, regardless of the roots. These days, everybody wants to be offended by something. Everyone wants a law suit. Everyone wants money. Everyone wants a reason to stand up against something. But it only hinders the efforts of those who are actually out there doing what 99% of the country, or world, will never even try to do. Let's do this for the people in the south, not for religion. Peace, ya'll.

I'm following this thread since opened. I'm ready yet with a song but don´t know if it's still needed. It's the same as Bob Moog homenage here at KVR.
This month has been quite sad indeed and I don't feel with courage enough to front death twice in my songs in so short time. :(
If it's needed I will upload tomorrow.
Thanks for your work!

I'm driving from Detroit, Michigan to Atlanta, Georgia this weekend to go to a cousin's wedding. I can't work on my .wav version of my song until next week, when I will FTP it. Is that too late?

i can't tell if all the tracks have been choosen for the cd or not or what the hell is going on

but, i've got a rough demo up and need some help/collaboration or something if anyone's interested. if you know me its the usual heavy (although slower) and needs some serious drum help. its only a demo with first takes of vocals and guitars. the drum track is 160 bpm and i'm open for anything (i'd actually like something different besides the usual metal drums - maybe some synths and stuff too??). i've got a basic drum track down, but can post a take without them if someone wants to work on it.

Hey great job, guys. I'm late to the party but if you still need tunes feel free to use this one. It's an unused studio outtake from a prior band. Let me know and I'll upload a WAV.

Parallel Worlds wrote:also, another comment: the phrase in the katrina cd website" if the cd won't be released......there are no refunds" does not look very good for most potential buyers. maybe change it and say that the cd will be released for sure?(telling the truth of course, i do not mean to lie.)

Line deleted. Thanks for your input on the text!

I'd still like to get a sentence or two about the FREE Tsunami Relief CD while stocks last offer. Who do I contact for that?

Actually the net would be slightly below $20 because there are paypal fees as well, at most $1.38 for foreign orders, about $1.20 for US orders. But if people preorder more than one CD, the fees go down.

But ... does $4 include shipping EVERYWHERE?

UPDATE

The chosen charities are:
The Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity

Xander and I feel that these two charities are good choices for direct aid and effort in the Gulf Coast region. All profits from cd sales will be split equally between these organizations.
