Am I doing something wrong, the pictures at the link are the same size as the ones displayed here. Are there larger ones somewhere else?

so we will still have to wrap with directixer for MIDI functionalitity?Brandon {Cakewalk} wrote:Hey whyterabbyt, whyterabbyt wrote:Brandon; I asked this at the Cakewalk forums but its not been answered; will S5's VST implementation work with MIDI-processing VSTs, and allow them to record MIDI and/or pass it 'downstream'?
I'm actually not entirely sure, but I think that the answer is "no" at this point (if memory serves). I'll see what I can find out for you in the meantime. Sorry this isn't a very definitive answer.
No, that was my fault. Like I said at first, it looked like the forum software automatically resized the pictures, on my screen.......maybe it's firefox, I don't know. Someone said they were too big, so I got rid of the big pictures, and replaced them with smaller pics. I used the same names as before, so the img tag pulled up the smaller pictures. the big ones(1280x1040) are on my laptop at home. I'll try to put them back on later.MojoChopper wrote:Am I doing something wrong, the pictures at the link are the same size as the ones displayed here. Are there larger ones somewhere else?

Technically, I think there is no 'right'. Passing MIDI from VSTs isn't (or wasnt) part of the VST spec. Why d'you think Steinberg have a different standard of their own for MIDI plugins? The whole thing is very fuzzy, really, and the hosts which originally supported MIDI-processing VSTs were actually the 'hacks'. (In a good way.)JamminFool wrote:
honestly, when i read that you were going to host VST natively, i also assumed you would do it right.

And yes, its a shame if S5 doesnt support it. But there are ways round it. (Not just DirectiXer)
I'm with you on this one - that's going to be absolutely necessary to get my $180 in September 06'. I'm also pretty shocked that we didn't get Project 5's arpeggiator, Live-style automation and tempo-track (although this isn't a huge issue since we can dock the tempo view). Since I wished for but NEVER expected convolution reverb and pitch correction, I'm not complaining too loudly.thunderkyss wrote:If Sonar5 would allow me to build a groove, without having to hit stop(the way you can in Reason, Cubase, Logic, Magix Midi Studio etc.......this may very well be my last upgrade.
I don't use Reason, but I understand that it IS limited to 16 Rewire devices (although some people say that the fact that Sonar 5 includes a REX player helps somewhat). Can't help with your other question._oswald wrote: 1) I'm a huge Reason fan and I love ReWire - however, it seems I'm limited to 16 devices with Sonar using MIDI channels for devices. Am I incorrect in this?
Studio Edition doesn't have the new effects, but it does include the truly excellent Sonitus suite, which includes one of the best native non-convolution reverbs IMO, as well as top-notch EQ, Delay, Compression, Gate, etc. Of course, even without the extras, Sonar is a pretty stacked host - you still get per-clip effects, in-line editing, tempo-synced envelopes, one of the better "freezes", extensive track lane features for comping, etc._dasjambo wrote: i believe that most of the great features: convolution reverb, pitch correction, etc. are only available on the producer edition. Am i wrong?
