CDs like "Sonic Refills: Ethnic Instruments"?

Annoyingly, this sample CD has nearly everything that I want in terms of ethnic samples, from european instruments like Zither and Dulcimer to more Turkish style instruments and flutes.

However, I don't have Reason, and because this is a ReFill, it's encrypted and I can't convert it to another format using ExtremeSampleConverter.

( That said, does anyone have this CD and can tell me whether the listing is NNXT patches, or Refill format? I can convert NNXT patches, but not Refills )

Does anyone know of a sample CD that has a similar list?

There's the "Early Patches" AKAI Volume, but I have a sense that it doesn't include many Turkish/Eastern style sounds.

How about SR World Instruments. Most of the patches from the Refill version are based on the same sample data from this disk, just re-programmed.

Hi ben, I'm unable to find this library on the website?

I can see "Sonic Refills: World Instruments 4-Pack - World Instruments for Reason 3, Kontakt and SampleTank"

But no AKAI version?

To be honest, I'm really upset that I've missed the group buy. I could've picked up the GB version really cheap.

However, if this AKAI version is around, I'd like to investigate.

Still alot pricier at discount than the full-price ReFill version.

But there's a birthday coming up.

I have this and it is very good.

Also, it's not in refill format so you can mangle to your hearts content outside of Reason which is what you wanted.

Bummer that you missed the GroupBuy - only by a day or so as well.

It terms of ethnic instruments, it may pay to keep an eye on Back In Time Records who are putting out Ethnotronics this month.

The samples will come in two formats, both with their own player (Halion or Wusik Engine). The different formats will have different angles though - Halion will be straight playback, whereas WEngine will lean towards creative use of the samples.

Just another option to consider.

Yes, Caleb is right, we´ll release Ethnotronics this month. So you might visit our forum for product details as there is already a detailed announcement.

But if you´re more in search for a regular sample library you can choose "Mediterranean Atmosphere" as in-depth library with instruments all around the mediterranean sea area from spanish Flamenco Guitar, french Musette Accordion, Buzouki from Greece, turkish Saz etc. etc. All of them sampled in stereo and the multisamples are mainly done with short intervals, sometimes semi-tone steps or, in the case of Saz, even quarter-notes. This library is available in Akai format. Another one is the "Ethnic & Folk Instruments", this library is covering instruments from all around the world including Didgeridoo, Alphorn, Bagpipe, etc. etc. and is available in Akai format.
