Is there a way to import wave files into ram instead of having the computer read from hd? I have a gig of ram that seems not to be utilised because the computer seems to read from the hard drive instead of loading into ram. Is it possible to use the ram as the preferred "storage" or am I dreaming?

Yeah you think (hope) so, but the pc reads from the hd when there is much much less than a gig to deal with.

ahem... some sampling plugins (the drum thing comes to mind) work the other way round. You have to force them to do "direct from disk" to have a working setup at all, if your sampling library is bigger than about 1/4 of your RAM.

Most modern harddisk should have no problem to read numerous tracks. It may be worthwile to look what a 7200rpm disk with 8mb cashe costs.
