T2 VST Install/Maintainance Q's

I successfully installed Tracktion 2 last night, the vst's included on the T2 disk went in fine...when trying to install the RMIV Drum Machine app and files i kind of screwed it up..i already de-installed for clarity, where exactly do i install the VSTi and it's supported files? the same question applies to the Sample Tank SE and Amplitube LE apps and files...(i'm sure this is real basic, sorry for being stupid, vst is new to me) EDIT: the T2 stuff goes in automatically, the other VSTi' need you to tell them where to go and i'm not really sure...there is a Steinberg folder and a T2 folder, plus where do the associated files reside? in the same folder or do i make a new folder and "point" to it...i tried it a couple time and it didn't work, that's why i uninstalled it
on the same tip, i've got EmulatorX and Reaktor 5 as well...they show up in the VST filter section, but i'm not sure how it works...when i load , say, a EmuX VST instance (i think this is what you call them) do i open the presets from in the T2 app? i assume i can't go in and edit the preset, that it must be together first but i'm not sure if that's true...for example, say i've recorded a riff in T2 and i want to make a sample out of it, do i have to open EmuX as a stand alone, or will it open as an app in T2 as a VST (this same q applies to R5 as well)EDIT: this is where i get confused..if i record a file to the AUDIO HD and i've got an EmuX or Reaktor VST, will the VSTi be able to read the sample file and load from the AUDIO HD?
i know these are simple q's to youse but not to meese.. pleese answer if you can if you please (ie, can you give me a general idea how this sort of thing works?)
thanks very much,
rg

No matter where you install something, you can still add it to Tracktion.
Let's say for example that you decided (as I did!) to have a folder right at the root of a hard drive/partition, called D:\VST Plugins.
In Tracktion's "settings" page, select the plugins section. In the top is a list of directories that Tracktion will search when looking for plug-ins. There's a button labelled "add path". Click this, and then enter "D:\VST Plugins" as a new path for the search.
Many plug-ins want to install to a Steinberg path by default, but you don't have to let it, you can just change it to whatever path you want in almost all cases. (I hear that IK stuff is finicky, but I had no problem changing the install path with the Amplitube demo or Sampletank2LE)
Anyhow, as long as you "add path" for wherever your plug-ins are found, and then "re-scan" (just adding a path won't add the contents unless Tracktion re-scans) for new plug-ins, you'll be sorted.

my main problem is i've gotten so near-sighted, i can't read manuals anymore...i have to either hold something about 2' away (too far to read small print) or 3" (too much a pita) i can read on monitors but i don't really like it, it gets hard to concentrate, i used to just catch up on my "studies" here and there...might have to break down and buy reading glasses (i will eventually, kind of blew my wad on my studio)...i mean it, i can't friggen read anymore..ANYWAY
does this same logic apply to reaktor and EmuX? ie, they show up, but can i point the VSTi's to the AUDIO DRIVE? (plus: how do you edit within VSTi's as opposed to the stand-alone apps?)
thanks a lot man,
rg

You should be able to install any of your plug-ins to your audio drive and then tell Tracktion where the new path is.
I don't use reaktor or EmuX, so I can't say for sure, but as long as Tracktion scans them in, you just need to drag them into a track to start editing them. In case you haven't seen it yet, the top right of your screen has an icon called "Filters". Drag this icon to any track and you'll see a list of your available plug-ins.
