I know, it's probably really easy, but I can't for the lift of me do it.

If you import a wav into the Slicer, how in the hell can you export each slice to a wav file to use? I have some Speech things I want to generate and load up into Robocoder, see. I've done it before, I remember, but can't figure it out...

Thanks :oops:

Well the idea is to actually use the wav in the Slicer,because once it's sliced... you can,to a certain extent, vary the tempo without affecting the
pitch/timbre of the original wav.
It's great for matching tempos of loops at it's most
basic. But if you really get into it it's a whole new
world of sequencing right there in the Slicers Piano
Roll.

Having said that....the Slicer is also a wonderful
tool for isolating sounds out of a loop..... and
re-exporting.....

Here's one way to do it.....
=====================================================

SLICE CREATION & CLONING

In a new empty project :
Create a new Slicer Channel using the wave you
want to cut up and isolate.

(For those who have never done this:
In Pattern 1 create a Slicer channel.
Make sure the step sequencer is visible.
To import a wav file/loop :
Drag the loop you want to slice onto
the Slicers Button, in the Step Sequencer,
or use the file open button in the Slicers
Channels Settings Window.)

Clone the Slicer channel.
Double click on the Piano Roll in Channel 1.
Select (Control click ) the slice you want to isolate.
Hit Control C to copy that slice to the clipboard.
In the Pattern Selector Field (Transport Panel)
...advance to pattern 2.
Paste the copied Slice to the new Pattern .

What you do next depends on what you want to do with the isolated slice.
=====================================================

PATTERN PRESERVATION & SLICE SEPARATION

If you want to maintain that slices position in relation to all the other slices in the original pattern.... just go ahead and export as is....

Repeat for all other slices.

You can also use this techique to get all the slices
still playing as Slicer channels but on separate mixer
tracks. Just separate the slices out to their own channels as above...then assign each channel its own mixer track....
(Cntrl + L or top left corner of the Channels Settings Window)
===================================================

ONE SHOT EXPORT

If you want to save the slice as a one shot :
Move that slice to the start of the pattern.
(to eliminate a gap at the start of the wave.)
You can also speed up the tempo and/or play around with the number of beats in the pattern to reduce the
gap at the end of the wave.
Solo that channel (channel 2).
Export the wav file.

Or you can save at any stage and edit in a dedicated Editor like Sound Forge, Audacity etc etc etc....

That's one way to do it..............
