I'm going to have to cast my vote for "extremely likes" the colors in FL Studio. My favorite looking of all hosts.

I'd settle for full bitmap-based skinnability though, but that's just me, not everybody is interested in photoshopping a couple of days to make an app suit his/her taste and workflow.

Not that I'm criticizing FL with this comment, for my taste and workflow it's still one of the more appealing ones, to the degree that it looks nice to me. And I do understand Gol's stance in keeping it non-skinnable.

(And then the obligatory bit about not owning it just in case someone wants to make an observation about it :))

FL 6 seems very interesting and I am definitely interested in becoming a user...A couple friends of mine use it in their home studio and it definitely has an amazing workflow.

One thing concerns me though I have heard there are rendering issues involving uvi based vsts such as spectrasonics trilogy...

This is one of my main productino tools for sounds and if I cannot render sounds from Trilogy properly then that would be a major issue...

Thanks in advance for any info provided...

Hi komplexbeats,
Yeah, the rendering issue with the UVI engine is a pain, basically, vsti's using said engine are out of sync when rendering to wav in FLS. I was forced to sell Atmosphere because of this. There is a fix, of sorts, available at the FS forum, but it doesn't completely solve the problem. All Spectrasonics products that use their own engine are fine.

thanks for the quick reply Ian B its much appreciated.

I'm wondering what I should do cause thats really the main thing thats making me wary of purchasing the product. I mean i could bounce the midi into another vst host then expot it back but thats also a pain.

I'm really hoping a reliable fix comes about cause everything else is so promising...

Peace

I doubt a fix will be coming, at least in the near future, this has been a problem for some time now. More to the point, as Spectrasonics are now using their own engine, there is little or nothing they can do about it, it's all down to the UVI team.

You could run FL Studio as a DXi/VSTi (in Stereo or
Multi Output versions)...inside a host app that is compatible with the UVI engine.
Then just run the Spectrasonics stuff in the host.

By the way IMHO FL Studio is at it's most powerful when used in this way ...
as a Loop/Pattern based sequencer/sampler/drum
machine inside a host such as SONAR, Cubase Tracktion
etc etc etc.

myself, I'd be grabbin a spraycan almost immediately...
I'd play a pink guitar, sure. On stage even, why not? I have a "don't fwck with me about my pink guitar" kind of overall affect, though.
my Kramer Ritchie Sambora is pink
and I am sure it is a beautiful instrument Pink, er Hink :hihi: Seriously, I would never put a spraycan near a nice guitar like that. I was thinking more along the lines of those Daisy Rock guitars...

At any rate, different people have different tastes. This includes color and shape (Foo Fighters!). Sure color may affect mood in some people and even possibly alter the music they are creating...

If someone showed me a hot neon green VST I would probably ask for a new skin as well.
