 Great work. A lot of stuff there that can be done on a grassroot level.

Excellent post Emdot! :D

Anyone care to add to this action list?

Possible angles of interest: a) [entertainment or community interest story] local composer/musician involved with international coalition of artists to aid Katrina victims; b) [technology story] musicians using the internet to bring independent artists together from around the world to help Katrina victims.
I'll hit up our local newspaper - good idea. Also, Seems like this is the kind of project that TapeOp readers would go for. I've already sent an e-mail to them about possible free advertisement.
emdot_ambient wrote: 4) Internet magazines . . . if you know of online magazines in the music and/or technology arenas, see if you can find some contacts there and email them. Music magazines would probably be best approached from the "international coalition of artists organize to help Katrina victims" angle. Technology magazines would probably best be approached from the "internet being used to unite world-wide independent artists" angle (i.e., technology being used as a unifying tool, rather than it being the root of modern isolationism).
I write CD reviews for www.tollbooth.org as a hobby (I get to keep the CDs) For some reason, I didn't think of contacting them to promote the disc. I'm on it after I write this up.

One other thing that might be good to point out that I heard on NPR this morning - The Red Cross is about immediate relief. Habitat for Humanity will be providing relief in the long term from a housing perspective. It might be nice to explain the choice of these 2 charities along those lines.

Kovacs ===> I can't log into Looptalk. It's something to do with my recent switch to Firefox as my default browser. Any ideas why the FL Homepage (invoked via FLS while it's running) won't work with Mozilla/Firefox?

I agree there with Rockstar -- we should explain how these two charities function in a little bit more detail. I had never heard of Habitiat until quite recently.

I was out of town all weekend and will be working on the final version on Wednesday the 14th, into the wee hours of the morning on Thursday the 15th, at which time I will be uploading the final version in hopefully 24 bit .wav for mr. ToTc to work his magic.

It will but you need to go to the "My FL Studio" page and do the registration thing again.

Hey -- Before I forget... I got a PM earlier from our major mate Freeztar and he's at a friend's house on the net due to some problems with his home connection. Says he'll be back online here soon. :)

Ok, i'm finished composing my track...i'll be mixing it tonight...maybe mastering it...then continuing on the rest. got a few to re-master by request of the authors.

So when i'm done, i figure i'll just burn all of them to cd's and mail them express through the shipping company i work for (DHL) to whomever is putting the final thing together. is that cool

peace!

Hm, I just listened to the mastered version of herodotus' song (trying to catch up with this thread).
No offense meant, ToTc, but the perceived level isn't even half as high as on herodotus' own mix (btw, I think both guitars are pretty much too loud as well, but that's an entirely different story and probably a matter of taste).
I don't know what you're using to master, but to my ears with this one something went the wrong way.

Sorry, but I allways prefer being honest.
