I would suggest that everyone include the name you want your song published under with your bio. That way it doesn't get lost by you just posting your wish here. However, I would suggest that you use what you consider to be your official artist name. It looks more professional and people like professional even if they're going to complain that we're just using a disaster to promote our work (though frankly, that allegation really pisses me off).

On another topic, I just dowloaded all the songs as posted here and will be starting to put together some preliminary play lists. I think this is as important to a CD as the arrangement within each song. Of course I'll post my play list selections as soon as I can.

Post

Oh, EXCLUDING the one .ogg and the one .flac file (I can't play those from my PC here at work, will get them into a playable format when I go home tonight) we have 133 minutes of music so far. Note, however, that there are 10 tracks pending, plus some of the songs here may not be final versions and may be longer/shorther than represented -- so your mileage may vary.

So, looks like we're getting pretty darned full.

Damn, Van Greco, your song sends shivers up my spine. Awesome.

Thank you emdot. I tried to convey a possible real life situation lyricly. It's a little somber I know, but I didnt really have it in me at the time to do a really uplifting track. Hurricanes are too personal for me. Hopefully some of the rest of you fine gentlemen were able to do so. I'm torn as to whether I should listen to everybody's track now or wait til I get my cd to listen as a whole. I'll probably breakdown and listen early though. I've already heard a couple. The guitar in herodotus' track is to die for IMO.

Ok my song Mighty Time is Officially uploaded to the FTP server as per the instructions.
Please feel free to do your mastering magic to it.
And thanks again guys for supporting such a great cause.

Well, my internet has been down for a while now. Hopefully it will come back up soon. Let's keep the momentum going!
Great ideas emdot!

hello,
i will wait until the cd release to listen to all the tracks.
although, i know for sure that i will like the edgar froese-style track of emdot_ambient, because i really like "epsilon in malaysian pale" from froese.
so, we have 133 minutes of music already. if we assume that the 10 pending tracks will be about 3 minutes each, then the total duration will be 163 minutes. that means already a little above the capacity of the two cd's. but this can be shorted out by cutting small bits here and there.
best regards, :-)
bakis.

Well, already I know my first number was wrong. At least two of the track I downloaded failed to download completely. I'm going to keep working on it, though. Somehow we've got to take a crack at track sequencing--gonna be hard, though.

As I was starting on the sequencing, though, I was wondering if breaking Sickle's entry into smaller bits and using it throughout the two CDs would work or be accepted. It's a cool track and it's 12 minutes long, so there's plenty to use and it has the sonic quality of the storm--I kind of like the idea of it sneaking back in here and there to keep the listener's focus on the actual event going, using it as sonic glue, if you will. I don't know, it's an idea.

Oh, and I hope my song lives up to your expectations, bakis. So far I've been told I've hit my mark . . . hopefully you'll be pleased.

One more thing!

I keep forgetting to mention that in your bios it would be nice if everyone put at least their country of residence. I for one am fascinated by the international nature of this project and would love to see the country of each artist on the CD.

Cheers!

Post

I didnt do a bio. Should we also send that to the ftp? How long does it need to be? Any other guidelines?

Post

There has been no format dictated for bios other than it be short. Xander has been compiling them AFAIK (that's who I sent mine to). I kept mine down to one short paragraph . . . but I can't find a copy or I'd post it as an example.

I think it went something like:

Emdot is an electronic musician whose compositional cerncern is not with genre but with sculpting engaging aural moments that draw the listener into a personal dialog with the music. He has been composing music for 27 years. Emdot lives in Frederick Maryland, USA.

That's not quite it but something along those lines.

I'd just make sure you let xander (Alex) know what artist name to use and, as I said, it would be nice to at least know your country of residence.

Yay! - I've just finished my song. I'm going to have a last listen in the morning, but I think I've done all I can with it. I'll get it FTPd sometime tomorrow if possible.

Keep up the great work guys - it's absolutely wonderful what a bunch of people working together in a vurtual world can achieve.
