Well they need to do something about how bad the GUI has become. It's about time they asked the comunity for help.

Logic 5/Live 5 gets the most use on my DAW whie Cubase gets used about 1-3 times a month becuase I can't stand how you have to map the little VSTi to the bloody MIDI in device. In Logic/Live you don't have to stuff that stiffles creativity.
I do think that's a little subjective. For most Cubase users (I'll wager), the GUI is one the biggest selling points! I know it is for me.

I haven't used a sequencer yet where you don't have to assign a MIDI track to the VSTi...but I did spend the better part of a day trying to get sound out of one in Logic...to me, it was utterly foreign and offensive - just like Cubase is to you, I'm sure. Just a thought.
I haven't even reinstalled SX since getting Live5. Drag a vst , drop it and presto! there's the midi track, press the red button and record! Audio is just as easy, too.

Cool. I think something like that should definitely be an option in SX, but I would think is a little low on the overall importance list. Tell me that's not the main reason you switched!

no, that's not the main reason. Actually, I've got a hardware issue with Cubase that has left Steinberg and M-Audio pointing fingers at each other. Funny that I don't get any audio drop-out with any of the other hosts I use.
But really, recording audio or midi in Live is such a breeze, I mean it's lightning fast to set up something.
Plus it's got the best of both worlds, in that I can work with patterns or work linearly.
Only thing I miss is audio editing.

I've been meaning to give Live another shot, especially cos working with loops in Cubase could be a lot easier (I admit). There's just something about Cubase...just feels like my sequencer - and robust audio editing is crucial for me. But I will check out Live.

That survey wasn't asking the community for help. It was a survey to find out how to better target customers. That last part (comments section) was just there to make you think that you haven't totally wasted your own time. Most likely, no person will read any of it and probably no database can extract useable information out of it. Normally, companies have to give people something for free to get this valuable information out of them. Where you shop for music gear, how often, what magazines do you read, how old are you and what's your gender, what country are you in, which Steinberg products do you already own etc. Once they throw all this information into a database, they will be able to better determine who is buying what products from where and how often.

well, I know how you feel. Believe it or not, I found myself sitting in traffic once, and in a state of bliss my thoughts were 'I love Cubase'
(but this was vst 5.1, which I still adore, but haven't bothered installing it. Didn't have the audio drop out with it either!)
I was really disappointed with my problem..Perhaps on my next computer I'll reinstall it and give it a try.

See there's the funny thing: we started with VST32 here at work, and I was thrilled when they changed it to the Nunedo engine. Diff'strokes!

I had tons of problems with the Cubase VST & Neundo LPT dongle. Much better now that they're USB, though.
