Seriously guys, are you going to force me into having ANOTHER baby, or are they coming soon? At a push I can use the "here's some jewellery to celebrate a new baby" (which she's come to expect after the first two) which acts as a perfect diversion for me to get some gear, but that phase lasts only a month or 2...
The eternal waiting...

...I'm swiftly running out of time. In 2 weeks our baby will be born. That means I have only 2 weeks to use my "I'm stressed about becoming a Dad, I needed some retail therapy" excuse - which worked pretty well on our first child, and now I have a really nice PRS. But you see, I had hoped to use that to get Amplitube 2, Ampeg, maybe CSR-1, the new soundset with Sampletank 2.1, Studiophonik and the brass capsule...

it's taking its toll on my patience to be honest
sampletank 2XL is so far behind kontakt 2, etc, it's unbelieveable
in nearly every respect, sampletank comes off as very amateur
i'm really disappointed, and have been waiting for 2.1 ever since i bought it
i hope it comes soon

I should have got you to negotiate for me - three kids and all I've got to show for it is an Epiphone SG (and three kidsTrojan Badger wrote:... which worked pretty well on our first child, and now I have a really nice PRS.
Mind you, it is a very nice SG (Elite range) and I did have a US Fender Strat before the kids came along so I can't grumble too much.

Derek.

Based on past experience, I suspect there will be a big promotional announcement at AES in October, with demos and press releases, etc., but Amplitube 2 won't actually ship until closer to year end.
IK and SR tend to announce things wa-a-a-a-ay in advance, and then take much longer than expected to finalize the product.
I mean, where is "iDrum" which was the darling of NAMM almost two years ago

IK Multimedia should learn a lesson from all of these questions for an ETA on an upcoming product...Stop announcing upcoming products/upgrades SO far in advance, if you fear you're going to lose customers to another company/product then find a way to speed up the process and not string people along.
Rant over.

Well, we just found out the date the baby's coming out (doctors want to do it themselves, from our past experience they don't want to let nature take its course) and October 4th is the date. So they've got until then....
I'm in no position to rant about delivery dates though. I'm in software development and some jobs are just impossible to size accurately. And managers and marketeers are rarely in touch with development realities.

Funny.....some companies handle updates/upgrades just fine. It's all about customer service & it's not that difficult to keep it under your hat until you ARE ready to make an announcement.
Best of luck with the baby.

I'm patiently waiting. From my experience IK are late because they don't make us do their beta for them. Well, not as much as others, anyway.

As for AT2 coming out at the end of the year, I think it will be sooner than that. But, as for taking much longer than expected this is something that can also be to ourselves as well. In order to go for great quality sometimes it takes longer but the products have more longevity for being cutting edge. There is already plenty of QUANTITY of products out there on the market but what separates them is the quality and special useful features. Believe me, nobody wants to intentionally delay anything in this business. If it takes longer it is for a good reason that will benefit the user in the long run.

You can still keep it to yourselves. I don't get my kids all pumped up for Christmas in August. I think this is the collective point being made by all these ETA questions....which I'm sure you're getting tired of answering.
As an example Digidesign just released PT 7.0 to be released Oct 7/05, they didn't say it was coming way back in April.

It isn't always that easy to predict when it will be ready though. Usually because there are so many people at trade shows like NAMM and you spend an unbelievable amount of money for a spotlight to show what you've got for the year this is a time where you showcase it. IK DID show AmpliTube AND Ampeg, Philharmonik and Studiophonik at the show. So it's not like it was vaporware. But, if it takes a little longer than expected to make it as great as everyone wants it to be then that takes priority.
However, there ARE many products that I've not even announced yet that I am about to lay on you all from SR. That would be announcement to release time practically instant. So, it is really product specific and not company specific... and that said I think that there are quite a few companies that have announced products that sometimes take a while to come out. Nature of the beast. No one has a crystal ball.

I appreciate that no one has a crystal ball & my intent is not to sound harsh. Apologies if it's come across like that. I'm sure you had a pretty good idea that AT2 & ST 2.1 would be released sometime after October?
Anyway, apologies again for being critical.
And kudos for answering all the ETA questions, more patience than I'd have.
