Floowing on from jens discovery of a kind of grouping arrangement for eXT, here's something to bring it all together for you:

Try it out..

I'll get a better background sorted.

Slider at halfmast=0dB, full=+6dB

there is no clipping, etc, just Gain.

If that's too much, I'll put it to +3dB - you tell me.

Input and Output vus have the same range as the slider, halfway is 0dB

I've done a little optimization, and taken it down to +3dB top.

Is anyone going to use it, or shall I stop?

I don't mind either way, I'd just prefer to know.

I've been using it in console as well, and it would work in bidule, amulch, etc. I realise that most modulars have gain items tho'..

So. Are there any other switchable features that might be desirable? I'm thinking a switch for passive/active (0dB,+3dB,+6dB max) and could put a passive LP/HP in for gentle touch up (DC removal for instance). I'm not looking to do a channel strip (there are enough of those around), just a utility; a little direction would be helpful tho' :)

what is it about? your explanation is very short...don't know, why i need this, sorry!

Sorry, should have included the link to jens original post, but since we're past that now I won't mention it..

It provides a focal point for grouping a variety of audio sources together which can then be routed as a unit into other things.
For instance if you have a drumvsti with a number of outs and a bass. Each of the drum outs might want different effects (diff 'verb on the snare to cymbals, EQ on the Kick, etc), and the bass might have some modification. You get the balance right, but then want to raise or lower the overall level of the group. Do you go into every module and adjust, or bunch them together and adjust as one?

GroupieXT allows for many modules to be grouped into a unified output which can be mixed as appropriate without destroying the internal balance of the incoming sources.

Looks useful. How's the CPU hit?

what is this ugly art teknika console interface :hihi: ???

nice work Duncan - :-) this will be useful.

Did you have to take a digital photo of a used piece of chewing gum to get the slider handle graphi? c :-o :hihi:

Andrew, CPU could do with being a little less.. It's about 2% on a modern machine. I know that it's only doing a mulitply for the processing, but the envelope followers for the vus needs assemblering..

Silicon.. yes I know.. I use console as my modular, but take quite a bit of interest in other hosts. I should have cropped the pic for posting!

scuzzphut, the knob is by mully. He's done a couple of knob/slider/vu toolkits so that we're off his back!

Thanks for the feedback! And now that I've got someones attention - would a switchable max gain be useful, or leave it? Would a non resonant HP/LP be of use? Anything else? A warmer?

I cannot pretend
I did not intend
to rhyme in that post

In this post my intention,
with all pomp and pretension
is to see if I
(and one cannot deny)
can boast the most rhyming post.

Where's my toast?

Thanks for that, duncanparsons :) I´ts a useful little plugin, at least until jorgen sorts out proper intergrated group channels for us. Just a personal opinion: I really don´t like the graphics, the colors/font/empty grey space/knob etc. I would try to go for a much more minimal approach instead. Anyways, thanks again

don't go and look at BetaBugs then!
