Loop question

I just noticed that some of the rhytm instruments in ST2XL are not looped, whereas others are.

For example, the Phil Gould on Drums instrument does not loop.

However, the UltramagneticBeat 120 does!

I find no settings in ST2XL where I can set an instrument to loop. What is the secret?

I have read through the manual but didn't find anything about this so maybe I'm overlooking something here...

It's an internal sample programming parameter that isn't available on the main interface.

I hope it's not too much of a problem for you though - it's usually very easy to simply repeat a pattern in your sequencer for as long as you want the loop to play.

Was there are specific reason you wanted the pattern to loop without having to retrigger the note?

Particular reason? I guess for simplicity? I thought it would be easy to make a sample loop in ST2. It's easy to do in Kontakt 2...

Kontakt 2 is more of a sampler, ST2 is a sample-based sound module. You have sample editing tools in a sampler but not in SampleTank (just like many hardware sound modules too).

Why AMG did those loops that way is their preference. But, even if they were looped I think it is probably better to repeat it in your sequencer anyway since restarting it ensures that it stays in sync in case for any of a number of possible reasons it looping could go out of sync... just in case.

Hm...okay. Thanks for your replies. Seems to me that Kompakt also lacks functionality to decide whether a rample should loop or not.

Just figured a sample player should have such an option and leave the choice up to the player.
