mchlwlsn -- Allegro Assai: Amazing. Amazingly authentic to the Switched On kinds of things that were coming out way-back-when. Interesting how much of this is Synth1, which I've never found a use for. Sounds good here, though. Actually this sounds more to my ears like a Larry Fast, aka Synergy piece. I thought about doing an old Synergy piece this month but I don't think he was actually using many Moog products. Seems like he was more of an Oberheim kinda guy . . . neither here nor there. This is surprizingly good. Actually turns out to be a great listen. Thanks!
:) I'm really glad you liked it! The best thing about Synth1 is it's low on cpu usage. I would have preferred to use 5 instances of Minimonsta, but I was maxed out and wanted to work on the whole piece all at once. Thanks for the review!
("amazingly authentic" :hihi: )

Is this the list of prizes for this month?

and no vote planned. does it mean GMedia (or Mrs Moog herself) is going to chose their winner?

BTW - after 2 weeks off, i'm enjoying a two days break at home. still a week of playing-the-c**t to go, tho. wish me well.

Mine's up now. :)

Played on the words and called it Moog In Brogues. :hihi:

The voice is Bob Moog (who else? :D ) from a radio interview.
I also used a few Electric Crackle sort of sounds - I was thinking of those massive valve thingies you see in old black & white horrors like Frankenstein - you know as the lightening crackles it's way up to the top.
It doesn't really fit any style/genre, I just wanted an electronic piece of sound.
In fact, I started off making it a bit Tangerine Dream-y in style but it took a left turn somewhere and ended up being 21st Century Glassback.
It's a bit naff but, hey-ho, there ya go.

*phew* Now I can get on with listening to the other entries so far. :D

Been working on my entry all day. Been spending too much time on the Katrina CD stuff.

Whoever said covers are dead easy must be either a) a better listner/player than I am, b) an idiot, or c) someone who's never tried it themselves.

Took most of the day for me to get the basic tracks down . . . then things started happening and BOOM! I look at the clock and it's nearly 2:00 AM.

Bed-ways is right-ways now. :drunk:

I like the bass line and the odd percussion over. As passing the song I feel like is too static. Pehaps one or two changes in the base could help keep me hanging. Lower frecuencies too dominant IMO, of course.
Thanks for the review Diek. I think I agree with you at the time I thought the bass line could carry the track for 3 minutes but now I think it needs a bit more variety in it.

Also on the headphones I mixed the track on the bass sound fine but I played it on my car stereo recently and the whole car was vibrating and shaking :? so I have since invested in new headphones with a better bass response as unfortunately I'm not in a position to be able to use monitors.

Hi, Caco!
I really would like to say the best about all the entries, specially whith those who have been gentle with me (human nature, I suppose) but I think if I'm not honest, I wouldn't be such a good friend.
Once said that, I've got the same problem as you. I used to work from 11p.m. to 3.00 a.m. because this hours everybody is asleep at home. This also means I must work with headphones. I've just bought AKG 240 Studio and can say that are a jewel. Comfortable, wide range and you can work hours and never get ears tired (if working at a reasonable level, of course  ).

Cheers!

Diego

Hi, Diek

If there is an something about my track people don't like I much prefer they tell me that way I can learn from my mistakes and hopefully improve so your comments, whether positive or negative, are welcome and appreciated. :)

And thanks for taking the time to listen and review as for me entering the competition is not about prizes or winning but more about getting feedback from people with more experience than me. Plus I have now learnt that my headphones were rubbish and have a good excuse to buy some nice shiney new ones

Cheers

Caco

MAte! :) A double Roger on those AKG 240's (I have the DF Studio Reference Monitors and use a headphone amp) -- They are truly awesome & I would never consider using anything else again. ;)

A touch of TelePopMusik about it.
I agree with you here on the vox not distinct and that was bothering me a bit even before uploading. I've done something with that. Thanks for your feedback.

Ever since starting to listen to synth music with Jarre I've got a soft spot for music that starts out with wind-like noise... This is a really well produced track. Great sounds, nice chords, interesting vocoding fx and a superb mix. If I would have to pick one thing to criticize it's that at some moments such as around 02:00 there's not that much happening and some synth fx here and there could maybe have livened it up. But to be honest I don't care that much about that - this is a wonderful track!
I gave the space you mean a little effect (nothing big really :), but I agree on your tip. Thanks alot.

:x Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :x

Stayed up till nearly 4:00 AM working on my entry, finished just now . . . and realized I had cut the song off at 3 min when the song I'm covering was over 5 minutes . . . TOTALLY forgot we could go up to 4. Why did I think 3 was the limit?

Fnuck it. I'm going to go with this. It works . . . but I can't believe I've short changed myself a minute. ME, the guy who's always yacking about "Oh, we need longer song limits!" Boo-hoo-hoo.

I'm a fnucking idiot.
:help:

Gimme an hour or so and . . .

. . . I'm gonna need someone to host this thang. Will put the call out when I've uploaded to the auditorium.

Hi, M.!
I can host your song if you need. PM me with the link to The Auditorium and I'll give you back the right link. I'll do it tomorrow morning if you're not in a hurry, because now I'm going to bed (2am here now!)
