Hi Fots,

man, I never saw that new licence for the new plugins.
hm - might have to do with the fact that it doesn't exist. ;-)

@ Soundpalace: Please don't post such rumours if you haven't checked for yourself if they are true - what do you think how many people are reading this thread?
They might just believe you without checking the facts (just like you did) and then they spread it further. And suddendly everyone knows the thruth which is in fact not true at all. :tantrum:

Here's the license:

This plugin is FREEWARE.

You are allowed to use it for personal use only.
You are not allowed to re-copy or sell the dll file for money or include the dll
on compilation CDs e.c.t

You agree to use this software at your own risk where I will not be held responsible for any
possible damage on your system caused by the plugin dll.

So, far, I'm not much impressed the plugins featured in this test.
I like the the TLA hardware the most by a fair margin. Then PSPmastercomp, 1176, sonalksis and GCO.
Anyone has the chunckware vanilla to add to the list ?
(I don't have a PC here right now, to process the file, but I remember it sounded top notch)
May surprise many people.

Hi Jens,

I dunno what you think that means. I read very clearly: "You are allowed to use it for personal use only." You even cited it ...
This says that you are not allowed to use it commercially. Or what?

Well, I could be completely wrong here but I think 'personal use' means simply that you may only use it on your own - i.e.: you download it - you use it in your projects - but you do nothing else with it - you may not distribute it, sell it etc. - its explanation is written below the sentence 'You are allowed to use it for personal use only.' - if it would mean 'you may not use it for commercial music' why shouldn't it then be explicitly written there? :?

So no, it doesn't say that you may not use it for any commercial usage! ;-)

hmmm jens, I didn't mean any disrespect although I've read many many license agreements and that agreement to me, looks like its clearly forbidding commercial use as Fritz has also said.

As I have understood .... the way license agreements destinguish between use for fun / experimentation and use for commercial projects are the words "personal" and "commercial".

I mean, they say personal use ONLY ... what other sort of use is there ? ... Commercial ... thus, this license agreement is saying out of the 2 ways one could use these plugins, only a personal use is allowed, not a commercial use.

Please feel free to question the author on this one and honestly I'd be extremely happy if you proved me wrong since I LOVE those plugins. :D

Cheers

:o vanilla is very smoooth ! I'm gonna try that one again ! :D

jens, rereading the license agreement, I guess may be right ... so just to be sure, I'll send an email to the author to confirm.

and just for the record...

It is UNKNOWN whether or not TLs plugins may be used commercially !! Please disregard my earlier comments, I will confirm with the author and post his response.

:D

Be Happy :D

but i wonder,
do anyone more than me have troubles in running Crunchessor in Live? im trying the demo and i get Access violation errors all the time. the same goes for Soniformer as well.. :?

I'm a little bit confused too...

the TubeLimit works for my ears smoother then vintage warmer. the last hours I played with this babe I'am very suprised for that nice sound. but I dont understand the license, what means "Personal Use only"?

My favorites:

1. sonalksis - very nice coloring, without lost of transparency
2. Crunchessor - I dont like the GUI but it sounds good, but not so transparent as the sonalksis and I missing a bit more punch

could be that the UAD plugs would change my order... mmm, not so easy to say. would someone recommend to buy this card ("Project Pak")?

hrm..very strange then. ive tried more voxengo demos, and i get the same error every time i drag the mouse over any of the plugin GUI's. :x

even tho i may not need any more plugins, i want them even more now when i cant try them out! :hihi:

OK!

The stuff I´ve written is just to say something like:

"If you download the plug and make a song with it
and go to a record company and sell this song in
a commercial manner it is still personal use.

If you download the plug and put a computer out
on a square where anyone could use the plug
THEN you abuse it in a commercial manner.

If DisneyWorld download the plug and use the plug
in all their sound systems THEN it is Commercial
use.

If one guy download the plug an use it at a live
gig to enhance his sound then it is STILL personal
use.
"

The point is that you download and use the stuff
from a personal point of view. It is a tool and
what ever you do with the stuff you create with
this tool I don´t give a rats arse about.

(unless you start a business where you sell the service of processing sounds with any of my plugs,
then it is Commercial use.)

Seriously, the resale value of my 4-year old Athlon PC is already so low, that is makes no sense to try to sell it. And it is and will still be perfectly usable for many years. .

In my experience old computers tend to crack up over time - motherboards fail, drives fail, graphics cards and monitors wear out.

I am typing this on a machine I built in Jan 99 but have twice replaced the mobo and I'm on my third graphics card. This machine is on many hours a day but the design spec for PC components is really 3 years - any more is gravy.
