Okay, weird problem in SX3, and the manuals aren't giving me much help.

I'm trying to record my TX81Z synth from the line in on my sound card, and it pretty much works fine in Cubase. I can record the stereo input to an audio track and all that stuff.

The problem is, I can't hear anything until after I've recorded it! This is increadibly frustrating, as before I reformated, I had SX set up so that I could monitor the audio track that was being recorded into, and add inserts and sends to that.

Routing seems okay, but having the monitor button makes no difference. Any ideas of what I might've forgotten to do?

:help:

Do you, by any chance have ASIO direct monitoring selected in SX? That way all record enabled tracks (basically the selected ones) will send the input through to whichever output and you probably don't have the proper routing selected in your cards mixer utility.
In case you're usually monitoring through software, you should switch ASIO direct monitoring off (might be on by default). After that enabling the monitor button should let you listen to all your inputs through SX.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

you are doing software monitoring to listen while recording the selected track, you must enable it buy ticking a little orange button with a speaker cone on it(what Sasha told you).
if you want to monitor thru hardware while playing you ust enable ASIO direct monitoring, both on your audio interface and SX,
also it seems that your audio card has the input muted, such as it ougth to be for software monitoring, enable it if you want hardware monitoring,

Bye.

Thanks, that worked.
