Surely that says a lot about the usability of the product? That was always one of my biggest gripes - I never felt that I was using Fruity to anywhere near its potential because there was so much that was hidden away. And back at v2.x there was no manual whatsoever. Even when one did finally see the light of day it was always miles behind the current version so unless you were on top of all the forum discussions about new features you had no hope of finding everything. eXT is a little bit the same way but at least you can ask on their forum and someone will tell you.grillo wrote:Oh if you look down some of the suggested wanted features are going to be there in the next version, but that's nothing like the huge amount of requested features in this thread that it turns out are there already. That's funny me thinks : )

FL is running foreign plugins, they're pieces of code and they can do anything, including crashing. Most of the corrupted FLP's are simply due to VST's that crashed while saving/loading their state, or that corrupted FL while it's running.I wish project files would never corrupt ever.
If you got a corrupted FLP while using FL plugins exclusively, then we can probably fix. Otherwise you WILL one day or another get crashes if you use external plugins. That's why there's a shortcut to save incremented versions of your project.
I think that assigning controllers to knobs in FL is easy enough, and if you can't do this with VST's, it's because VST's make it impossible.if something like alt-ctrl-shift-right-click on any parameter would put it into controller/midi-learn, that'd be great

...I thought I mentioned it somewhere before but a GATE effect (not a sequencer but a noise gate of some kind) is missing in FL. I know there is a gate effect in the last panel of the Channel settings page, but i would prefer just a simple effect version in which you could set your threshold, attack and release times. As I understand it the gate present only affects NOTE length and doesn't do much for , say, getting a light trip staccato on a loop...not much but it would come in handy. Or a multiband noisegate would be SUPOIB!

a noise gate is easy, but there are loads of free plugins already, so why bother?

I could see that if it was done with the same kind of approach as there has been with other plugins (vocoder, Sytrus, that new dub delay thing) it would be better than most available plugins... that would be one reason

What if these free plugins were poorly coded and caused FL to crash? You can't blame people for wanting native plugins, especially when vst parameters are harder to control with ICs. If it's easy, and will add to FL's value...tony tony chopper wrote:a noise gate is easy, but there are loads of free plugins already, so why bother?

I regret having wasted my time with the vocoder anyway - I've been told that no one knows how to use it in FL, and the VSTi version has been sitting in a drawer for years, because I'm told that the VSTi market doesn't exist.

surely there must be one that works in the truckload of gate effects. What if these free plugins were poorly coded and caused FL to crash?
Btw I do understand the need for a true noise gate for audio recording. But if you want to use it as a creative effect over a melody, I'd rather spend time in this in synths themselves like Sytrus.

Personally I do not care for noise gates much, I prefer noise reduction after...the one in AA is sweet, but I try to avoid excessive noise (and yes guitar players you can minimalize noise, more gain does not always mean better soundtony tony chopper wrote:surely there must be one that works in the truckload of gate effects. What if these free plugins were poorly coded and caused FL to crash?

The manual explains quite clearly how to use it - Pan the carrier hard left, the modulator hard right, and route them both to one effect track containing the vocoder plugin.tony tony chopper wrote:I regret having wasted my time with the vocoder anyway - I've been told that no one knows how to use it in FL, and the VSTi version has been sitting in a drawer for years, because I'm told that the VSTi market doesn't exist.
But yes, I see your point.

This gate works well in FL: http://www.ismusic.ne.jp/slim_slow_slid ... l#autogate
FLOORFISH also works well too.

I'd like to see a complete solution for video/film scoring within FL Studio. I don't want to have to learn another DAW from the ground up if I don't have to.....
