Also, i wonder if it is a caching issue. everytime i get a glitch in the audio, i see the harddrive light flicker.

Maybe a stupid question,

did you record on the FW HD or on the internal ?

Hi Original Flipper,
the thread was started on RME'S and Echos. What i wouldn't call aehhm 'not good soundcards'.
And it was,is on imho a very high level. It's not so easy i think, but i'am shure it will get fixed, if it is not for some already. But like it is, the PC's with all the different hard and software are sometimes complicatet 'Divas'.

The simple fact is that eXT's performance has problems whereas almost every other audio application works faultlessly with both ASIO4ALL and the native Echo ASIO drivers on my system at least - I'm not alone. One other that doesn't being SynthMaker and it's ASIO implementation was based on Jorgen's ASIO code - again, I'm not alone.
Inigo, are you using 'asio.dll' or 'testasio2.dll' - I Just realized that for me the performance of 'testasio2.dll ís much better than that of the lastest official asio.dll (asio.dll=lots ofcrackles / testasio2.dll=no crackles at all whatever I do) - if you haven't got it anymore I could mail it to you... :-)

edit: scratch this - I was using an older version of asio.dll... :dog:

Hi jens, I'm currently using the older asio.dll from 1.3.5 which sounds like probably being the one you're using too (I've gone back to asio4all as well). The new asio.dll with the Echo drivers seemed good at first but ended up being unusable.

Still winds me up that using eXT as a VST inside TobyBear's MiniHost is flawless with the Echo ASIO drivers :-) I think that is such a key bit of information to something not being right in standalone.
