Hi everyone, as you may or may not know i produce trance music. I do it because its the genre that i'm the most passionate about. Of course i have made other styles/genres as well just for fun, but i take trance seriously. I have a couple of songs signed to a label however i have not seen any money coming in, and i highly doubt i will ever see any money from those tracks. Lately i have been submitting more tracks to bigger labels however, from my recent experiences with them.. it seems almost impossible to get signed. Its a very uncomfortable mood that this puts me in. I mean, i do not see much point in making music if others cant hear it. Sure its fun for me to hear my songs, but its even more fun when others hear it too. i'm at a stage now where i really dont care about the money, i just want my stuff out there, tearing up dancefloors. So, are there any trance producers here that are getting releases (not just signings but actual releases) and making money (doesnt matter how little) from it!?

hm...to get your music heard, put it on the net, give the links to everyone and ask them to tell their friends....ask if the label you're signed to gives out promos and also if your music has been played on radio or any clubs etc...Do a follow up with the DJ's playing your stuff and ask what responce you got.

I have had lot's of tracks played on radio and in clubs and that's only possible if ppl know you exist....make yourself heard and just shout out "hey I'm here!!"

send your stuff to radio "demo" shows and with luck you'll get played and more ppl will get interessted in your tracks..just to get the ball running ya know...

it seems that most labels sign up tracks and artist just to have a rooster, not to really play the material or promote the artist..they usually can't afford it...you have to do ALOT of the PR yourself.

Isn't trance one of those 'proper dance music' genres where having major-label money-spinning album-releasing radio-hit success isn't neccessary to getting your music out there and heard by a lot of people? Isn't it more about getting a good track out on a hip label and it turning into an underground club hit which then may or may not cross over to a mainstream pop hit and make you fat stacks of cash?

Although I have to say I like the sound of a label with a rooster. Not enough farm animals in trance these days...

The dance music market is dead in the UK. Most of the big clubs are closed or about to be. The only London mega-club that's regularly packed is Fabric and they wouldn't touch trance with a bargepole.

I understand it's still big in Poland.

trance is by no mean's dead. Regarding the cash, i can't really speak about this for trance music at the minute, because i've not signed any productions out yet. I am in a similar situation to yourself Mark. If you want to see the kind of club's still playing trance, check out anjunabeats.com they play all over the world...Decent trance.

More seriously, I don't think there's much doubt that the dance scene in the UK is going through a pretty serious trough.
It'll pick up again. It always does.

Do bear in mind that 'dance music in the UK no longer involves huge multinationally marketed megaclub and megalabel brands, daytime radio friend pop smashes and flies-on-shit attention from the mainstream press' and 'dance music in the UK is dead' are so far from being the same thing as to be almost opposites...

last year i made a track and sold it for 800 bucks, that was a great deal. these days i only got something around 200-300U$ for my trance tracks, not much - but it helps
