not that a giveway would change what I'm buying...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Good point. In the giveaway frenzy, let's not forget the seriousness of the circumstances and why we are doing this.Hink wrote:not that a giveway would change what I'm buying...
So far we have raised more than $1000 *more* than we need to create the CDs!

What's the latest figures on how much of the purchase will make it's way to charity? That's going to be a key figure in the bit of local promotion I plan on doing once the CD is released, and some pre-release work as well.
It might be useful information to have on the website.

We'll know soon after we add up all the costs and settle on the vendors after Freezey's negotiations, but it should be at least 18 dollars (hopefully more) per unit going straight to the charities -- a nice, tidy sum indeed.rockstar_not wrote:What's the latest figures on how much of the purchase will make it's way to charity? Yes. Although having sold almost 1/5 of the production before it goes to press isn't bad......xander wrote:I want to add though that we really do need to get a marketing ghuru on board soon, since someone with the knowhow can really make our sales fly.

Again, are we official in sending it to CDbaby? I've mentioned this before, but we need to figure in the costs of sending it to them. I say if we do that we have the CDs shipped to a member that is close to their offices so it doesn't have to go as far.
Second, if we do go through them, and they take a few dollars out, we have to figure that into the cost, and we have ot check if that few dollars is really that big of a deal. I know it's a pain for someone to have to ship them out, so it still may be the best option. But I don't know.
Last, they would send the profits to the Red Cross. We are advertising both the Red Cross and Habitat For Humanity. With CDBaby it would only reach one.
Just some definate decisions that have to be put in stone soon. I just wanted to give something to chew on.

Love it!
We have three new challenges now:
At 100 preorders, one lucky customer gets to choose one of the marvellous and unique VSTi's from Kong Audio: ChineeKong, ChineeWind, or ChineeErhu, thanks to Kong Audio!

The person who orders the 101st CD, gets a free Energy XT license from Jorgen Aase. This modular environment is unlike anything you've seen!

And at 120 preorders, we hand out one copy each of Camel Audio's incredible plugins: Cameleon 5000, CamelSpace, and CamelPhat.

More details about the challenges at http://www.katrinareliefcd.com - where you of course can place your preorder now.
A HUGE thanks to the developers who have donated these fabulous give-aways in order to help our project.
So if you haven't preordered yet, now is the time to get in! Help us help the victims of Hurricane Katrina!
