this is our new VSTi, "Traks":

It is a very simple tool.

- Load single tracks from a multitrack performance.
- Set details (original tempo, phases, etc.)
- Define slices for loops or samples
- Play at any tempo by midi notes. It stretches time and shifts pitch, in realtime...

BE CAREFUL: this version only loads mono wav files, 44.1 KHz, 16 bit !!!

Download it from www.sknote.it ("download" page)

If you don't have a multitrack recording, you can simply test it with a single wav file (use only one track)

Tested in Cubase, EnergyXT, FLS, Tracktion
Pdf manual to be uploaded in a few days.

Comments are very welcome :)

Quinto
This looks REALLY nice! Thanks!

It means that it has not been well tested. And some more features are still to be added (different file formats, amplitude variations, more controls for wave graph, multisamples, etc...).

But it is fully functional.

So you can take a whole performance of ANY length (ie 4 minutes) and quantize multitracked drums? Similar to Beat Detective/Beat Quantizer? If so, YAY!

b.

P.S. The fact that it's a VST, so it'd be inside the hose you're working in (ala Beat Detective/Pro Tools) would be AWESOME!
So what about MY question, quinto??

Yes, that IS right!
You take a whole performance, even 1 hour long, because it is direct from disk, no problem at all!
It finds beats and quantizes audio. This is in realtime, while time-stretching.

You can write a tempo track inside the host, the drummer follows tempo. Or you can switch off "follow tempo" and load a tempo track from drummer in the host. The band follows the feeling from the drummer...

And this is inside a host, of course!

Hey, this is "demo" because it has to be tested in a serious application!
We'll see, if interested, why don't you try to build a small demo?

Hi Quinto,

Fantastic! I'll try it out as soon as possible! Not sure why you're rolling your eyes at me, though...

:) That's because the best satisfaction for a developer is to see something done with his software...

This is absolutely different from microdicer.
- Loads up to 10 tracks.
- Plays direct from disk. Example: 1 hour long performance.
- It doesn't trigger slices. It time-stretches! When you have real drums, with overlapped sounds, you cannot slice, you need to time-stretch!
- Separate individual outputs for each track

Can you load a 5 min 10 mics drummer performance on microdicer and play it at another tempo? If yes, you don't need to test this one :)

This would be great for a remix or edit of an instrumental song that doesn't follow a tempo correctly. This is a really great tool. Dancify a rock song. slice and rearrange without worriying about things being in sync!
Do not lick the fablanky

well, no idea where the problem is, but the GUI doesn't show any waveform at all :|

1- Drop a file in directory field. The vst strips the directory
2- Drop the same file in track 1 field. The vst strips the filename without dir
3- Press "reload" (mid-right on screen)
4- The vst starts analyzing and loading the file.

If nothing happens, directory+filename is wrong...

To be tested :)
Auto quantize is not magic, it is ever a quantize...
Not tested with non-percussive tracks...

The gui is too big for FL and you can't see the keyboard editor. This is definitely something to get excited about.

Oops. Using a 1280x1024px resolution here.

You're right, with 1024x768px in FLS you need to drag all the control windows out of top bar to see the whole gui. You could use this solution for testing, even though I agree that it is not a definitive solution...

I hope that it is useful. That is why I spent a lot of time programming it
