just talk low for one character and high for another and with a lisp for the third... doing voices isn't that hard is it? also you're you're wrong about formant shifting being the "classic vocoder effect", it sounds very different, look into it further, if you're going to use an effect that will probablly be the one.

Formant filters shouldn't be a 'vododer' type thing. Rather, (ideally) it will change the way your voice sounds including timbre and nasality and so forth.

All depends on the voices you have/use AND the CORRECT writing.
(Some voices have around 100 mb of data each and sound very good.)

But seriously, I am looking for a way to *believably* create character voices from my own voice. Any worthwhile information will be appreciated. A link to a document or a good program would be fine.
