Kontakt Surround Organ

This is by far the most impressive sounding church organ i've heard yet. SR did this. I haven't even heard it in surround yet, but i did just get a new 12" sub yesterday and was playing with the lower portions of the keyboard and heard stuff i've never heard before. Then looked at the mapping editor in kontakt and sure enough theres tons of stuff down there.

2 things:

1 - squids, this is excellent - just love it thanks.

2 - not being familiar with church organs too much - what is all this lower freq stuff actually for? does it get mixed in to other sounds as they're played or are these to be played separately?

(oh, and for anyone who hasnt yet discovered all the low end stuff that you're not hearing/feeling, you owe it to yourself to get a big sub and enjoy)

Organs seem to go really low. Looking at the poster that comes with Philharmonik, one can see a scale of C1 to B7 or something like that. And there are colored lines for every major instrument to indicate their range.
The organ is the only one that goes from all the way left to all the way right and has an additional note saying that it's range goes further that that.

btw, I love that poster, squids, very nice.

Actually, as it says in the poster, it goes beyond that - and it really does go below - i have mappings down to c-2. Not sure how legit they are as real notes, but they are deep enough only to be heard by the new sub.

I love that poster too - any chance to get one just rolled up instead of folded?

Ya that Organ was extremely fun to work on because of the quaility and the amount of data.... one of my first explorations into surround sound programing. Was a pain to do but well worth it... now if I only had a surround setup at home so I could enjoy it too

Well congrats on a job incredibly well done. Its now one of the first things i pull up when i want to hear a nice full sound just for fun. I feel like i'm in the phantom of the opera when i pull that up.

Included in the Kontakt 2 library - which was worth the price of admission to that program all by itself. That library is incredible.

Oh that one - I have it, I just thought when you called it the SR organ that this was another organ I'd not come across - didn't realise they made it for the K2 library.

Is this a part of something else or a new product?

We're doing a bunch of new Kontakt products exclusively on www.esoundz.com This was a little taste that we licensed to NI for the Kontakt 2 factory set.

In case it is of interest, Sonic Reality participates in a lot of company's factory sound sets including SampleTank 2, Kontakt 2, Reason 3, Project 5 r2, EXS24 and others. We like to reach as many sample users as possible through whatever they like to use to playback their sounds. Got something interesting coming for Reason, SampleTank and a few other formats too. We like to keep busy and also find ways to give you all more added value sounds with the products you like.

I am glad you like that Surround sound organ. We put a lot of effort to offer that on top of the Capsule taste sounds. But, it was too tempting to take advantage of the surround sound ability. Incidentally, I believe there is also a bass pedal layer in there that can also be optionally played on its own. That's the main thing going to the sub. You have different registers going to different places too. With a real pipe organ you hear sounds coming from all around you.
