It's pretty much the only program I use for composition these days, and I perform with it.

I both make samples and compose with it. All of my music is now composed entirely in it, and it's been used on most things I've done in the past 6-7 years (started using it in 1998 or so).

wowwee! i've used audiomulch loads before but not since just before the metasurface was introduced. for some reason i thought it was just an assignable control surface, with just knobs and stuff on that you could map to anything... how wrong i was!! i've forgotten how great audiomulch is, and that metasurface is exactly what i want to play with ! shame it can't be used with vstis tho.. perhaps jorgen can rip it off but top stuff, i'll be investing shortly no diggity no doubt.

I compose in Mulch quite often, though frequently what comes out is then chopped to pieces and collaged/arranged in other programs.
One of the principal pieces for the film soundtrack I did this summer was done live in Mulch, no overdubs.

You can load a VSTi and assign it a MIDI port and channel, so you can play the VSTi with your controller.

Then you can route the VSTi to a FileRecorder, and set up the recorder to punch in and out in any section of the timeline (by automating the Record button). This way, you can record your performance as audio. You can play back the audio with a LoopPlayer or even with the same FileRecorder you used. Just remember removing automation for recording or your audio file will be modified.

After you recorded the audio you can delete the VSTi and save some CPU. Audiomulch forces you to freeze tracks

a part from music/noise developing I use it for sinesweeps & spikes recording, everytime I need to record a single mono or stereo track and even for mastering.

and when you get a multi i/o soundcard it's just poisoning.
