If nothing happens, directory+filename is wrong...

**that xas the problem, now everything works fine. is this a way to manually move the slice starts??

- Scroll the wave until you see the region where you want to put the start
- Clich with the mouse where you want the start. The "current position" black line moves there (if "snap to zero" is selected, otherwise it snaps to nearest beat)
- Push "Get loop start". If IT ISN'T AFTER THE ENDPOINT, the new start is set. Otherwise ignored.

I'm going to add "measures and beats" grid on the wave graph.

Don't worry so much about the end point, set it more than needed, anyway you have to send note off.
I like to set ends to end of file, so that I can use different lengths from the same slice. I set the note length to slice duration.
Remember: with loops, length doesn't matter, no problem with ram and cpu.

One tip: when you switch on a loop (small squares in note list) the endpoint is changed. This is to avoid loading unwanted too long slices in ram...

nah, I meant moving the white slices, the detected beat, in fact, to make them perfectly match with the waveform.
I ll try to see if it's possible.

The white slices cannot be moved. But you can set "snap to zero" and set any point near them...

Anybody using multitrack drums, like those from DrumDrops?
That was the starting poing to develop this vst...

The pdf manual is now available for download from the website :)

as i take it it means full working version not released yet :)

trying this out very soon

Hi :)

I've uploaded a simple mp3 demo:

http://www.sknote.it/Download/Traks_Demo_1.mp3

I've loaded six tracks:
- Overhead left
- Overhead right
- Snare top
- Snare bottom
- Kick
- Hi-hat

I use only one 16 beats loop (plus intro).

While playing:

- Switching on tracks by gui
- Changing tracks levels by host mixer
- Adding effects to single tracks (reverb, compressor)
- Changing pitch by gui
- Adding variations by single shot samples
- Following a tempo track in host

Time stretching to extremes:
- Original: 115bpm
- Lowest: 95bpm
- Highest: 150bpm

Comments very welcome

Anybody using it would like to make a small demo to be uploaded on sknote?

I've tested it in several hosts...
could you please send some details about yur DAW and what happens when loading the vst?
Sometimes there is a very simple answer... :)

I´ll do so
if I find time to try it on the weekend again.

thanks for your support.

respect, wonderful works...

Great tool, quintosardo. Actually, I've been thinking of writing a similar thing myself, just couldn't get to it because of my studies...

I just gave Traks a try and I get ugly clicks on playback - the more the higher the Sound setting, though they don't stop when Sound is set to 0. The clicks are there at 256 samples latency, but disappear at 1024 samples. As the CPU load doesn't even hit 25%, I think the problem is related to disk streaming - my laptop drive is not the fastest around. Still, as I know I never got any clicks when streaming in sfz, I know it's doable so maybe the streaming procedures need some optimisation. Also, an option for buffering samples entirely in RAM (as long as there's enough space) would be nice.

Apart from that, I'd love to see the following features in Traks:

1. A file browser on the GUI instead of dropping.

2. Horizontal and vertical zoom in sample display.

3. Ability to select a range on the sample and quick assign it to a note by MIDI learn. Also, currently, the user is forced to assign End point before the Start point, which is not particularly intuitive. I'd say a better idea would be to allow any order of assigning and highlighting values in red instead of playing the note when Start is not before End. Or better, play sample backwards then.

4. Ability to quick assign detected sections (white marks) to notes by MIDI learn.

5. Ability to edit detected sections - combine sections, move boundaries, split at position.

6. ADSR envelopes (for each section?)

7. Polyphonic mode for playing multiple sections from one sample at once.

That's all that came into my mind after my first look into Traks. I'll be happy to drop further ideas or do some further betatesting, as you develop Traks. Thanks for making it free!
