Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a VST which emulate a Hohner Clavinet. No sample library based. Just like Lounge Lizard or MrRay for the Rhodes/Wurly.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have Tassman? Harm Visser's Clavinet patch for that is very nice.

TickyClav might not be a Hohner, but I highly second trying it out!
Just make sure to run it through some further effects, namely a bit of an ovedrive can doo good. I think rockstar_not posted his (very convincing) FX chain a while ago, the only thing I remember is he's been using MDAs banddisto (and probably some Kjaerhus compression).

BigTick TickyClav or AAS String Studio would seem to fit the bill.

I'm curious as to whether AAS Lounge Lizard EP3 might do a Clav impression:

"All the classic electric piano sounds: Rhodes™, Wurlitzer™, RMI™, Hohner™"

Hmm, I guess that'll probably be a Hohner Pianet though. Oh well.

Another vote for Harm Visser's Clavinet patch too.. Has a nice clanky release sound. The presets sound a little brittle through an amp sim, but with some tweaking it might be usable. I think the amp sim is pretty key to getting the authentic Clav sound.. I found MDA Combo does a good job of this..

Thanks loomchild. I knew that one. It's good but it has not been updated for a long time.

Any other choice?

That's sample based but it doesn't sound bad and the built in Dynafilter is excellent. No release noise though (which to me is a large part of the Clav sound).

Plugsound Free also has a clavinet preset

Want a clavinet sound that will really cut through the mix? I implore you to check out Ugo's String Theory (free). In addition to being a unique plucked string synth and esoteric sound generator, it's also a very convincing clav emulator. You don't even have to tweak it-- just go to the "Segovia" patch.

You'll find that it's expressive, too, unlike the free, sample-based clavs around.

I was wondering exactly the same thing, and came to exactly the same conclusion...
