Sampletank 2.1 - What the heck is going on?

Just a guess but I bet they are going to stick a dongle on it. A point release with a total change of c/p. Yellow Tools did it with Culture so I guess anything is possible.
Anyway, they will probably have to dongle it if it can read the Philharmonik content. If it stayed with the same c/p, and it could read Philharmonik data, the dongle (on Philharmonik) would have been for nothing.
I'm willing to bet that this is the reason for part of the delay.

At what point have I offered any excuse for anyone, but in fact agree with Vocal Point, others who have posted in this thread, and I would expect the majority of ST2 users that we are not happy that 2.1 isn't here yet and are due an explanation? Did I say anything about why it's late or that it's ok that it's late without explanation after Philharmonik has been released? No, I offered the thought with which I comfort myself in this situation, and simply stated my opinion about ST2.1: 1, It will be worth the wait because IK has a history of taking as long as it takes to get a job done properly, and 2, since Miroslav is out and it's 2.1 based, where the heck is it?Hewitt Huntwork wrote:Thank you, Clarence Darrow.Bassballjg wrote:I see no innate contradiction between the idea that something can be worth an extra wait and being disappointed it's not on time.Hewitt Huntwork wrote:Vocalpoint is well within his rights to post as he did (although I would be quick to point out that the esoundz forum is not the right place and the instruments forum is). Everybody can talk all they want about how much better something is with the waiting, but you can't change the fact that IK made an inaccurate statement and have yet to replace it with an accurate one. I agree that this is not the best practice.I wasn't trying to imply any contradiction. I was really mostly calling out the poster who used the words "oh cool it", which I found to be an innapropriate response (even if the person being addressed didn't). I should've been more direct.
That aside, I will repeat here that you and others are offering excuses for an entity that offers none for itself. I'll take resposibility for the fact that it rubs me the wrong way.I'm a happy IK customer, and I admit to total ignorance as to what is supposed to be new in ST 2.1. I'm off to read up on it... Cheers!
You claim to be reacting to something said by another, yet choose to do so by invoking part of what I said as if to imply my endorsement of bad business practice. You made a sideways reference to part of something I said and used this decontextualized statement to further your own argument, which my remarks in full were not in conflict with.
What harm have I ever done you, sir? I'm in the same boat as everyone else on this one, so I really don't want a fight when there is no substantive disagreement on the core issue. However, I will say that I see no other interpretation of your remarks except that for some reason, you have decided that you can address your problem with IK by taking a shot at me. Does this need to be personal when neither of us is in any way reponsible for why ST 2.1 is late or its lateness unexplained?

Makes sense, good point. You may very well be right.hardwired wrote:Just a guess but I bet they are going to stick a dongle on it. A point release with a total change of c/p. Yellow Tools did it with Culture so I guess anything is possible.

Bassballjg, what harm have you done me? Well, you're positively exhausting!Bassballjg wrote: At what point have I offered any excuse for anyone, but in fact agree with Vocal Point, others who have posted in this thread, and I would expect the majority of ST2 users that we are not happy that 2.1 isn't here yet and are due an explanation? As for your statement about Miroslav being 2.1 based and "where the heck is it?", I agree that I glossed over that and I apologize for characterizing you as disagreeing with the original post. My understanding of your opinion is deeper now than when we bagan this discussion.
I did not mean to imply you endorse bad business practice. I admitted that I should have been more direct initially, and since have been nothing but. Failure to be direct doesn't necessarily deserve to be categorized as "sideways".
If you were not trying to argue with me, what exactly was the point of your response to me to begin with? Talk about decontextulization! <- I think that might not be a real word...
I don't want a fight, either (and for the record I don't consider this fighting). I have stated more than once that I understand the difference between our points of view, whereas you confess to being incapable of interpreting my remarks in any way other than (what seems to me) the unkindest of lights. So, having failed to make my point, and agreeing with you that this back-and-forth is uncalled for, I concede, I concede, I concede.
I have a lot of respect for the way you express yourself, and I look forward to seeing you in some other thread.

You know, they don't *have to* do anything except pay taxes and die. Everything else is optional.hardwired wrote: Anyway, they will probably have to dongle it if it can read the Philharmonik content.

Yawn, either I am too tired of fights can just be boring sometimes... anyway, on the subject of SampleTank 2.1 well, all I can say is that the developers did an amazing job. SampleTank 2.1 can do things that I have requested for a long time. It is coming very soon now and sorry if we borrowed it for Miroslav first. You can thank Philharmonik for boosting future updates to SampleTank though that you'll be able to benefit from besides a few unannounced extras in ST2.1 By the way, ST2.1 does not use a key and that has nothing to do with the timing of it. I think the excitement over Miroslav from SR and IK may have added a little bit to SPK and ST2.1 as it takes time to be able to do both and orchestral products are competitive so timing is important. But, we all have multiple people working in parallel and as many of you have said, if it takes longer it only means the products are going to be better for it. This tends to be the case and I think you'll find it all to be well worth the wait.

Squids, I deny that my discussion with bassballjg was a fight but I don't deny that it was boring! Sorry for snoozing up the joint...Squids wrote:Yawn, either I am too tired of fights can just be boring sometimes...

I sincerely regret having taken up space and time away from an important topic, and lowering the level of civility in the forum, by indulging in hairtrigger personal negativity, and for inferring insult where none was intended.

As I've said before, I respect the fact that IK do not make betatesters of us all. And many software developers suffer at the hands of overenthusiastic marketing people.

My guess is that its probably done and waiting to go. They`re just waiting for a time when the release will make the most impact like a NAMM fair.

The problem is NOT with the developers but with the timing of the announcement. None of these "where is it?" posts would have seen the light of day if it was announced 6 weeks ago.StrangeCat wrote:oh man where's my crystal ball!! I knew the prediction was going to happen LOL...

I guess IK had a different time estimation at the time ST2.1 was announced.
Pesonally, I like the idea of being informed early and waiting a little more. I don't regard it as a problem.
But that is just my preference.
