Wanting to learn a new song, so looking for ideas... I will kick this off with one of my favorite bass parts: I really like the bass part for Mayor of Simpleton by XTC. (I can actually play it too)

There are tons of really great ones out there . . . but not many come close to Bernie Worrell's bass synth in Parliament's song Flashlight. Great keyboard work and total booty-shaken funkadelic groovaciousness.

Depends what kind of feel you're looking for. I'd go for anything by Nile and Rogers (Chic, Sister Sledge etc.), "Mr Big" by Free (great bass solo too!), "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder, "Second that emotion" by Japan (Mick Khan - underrated bass player IMO), "Ace of spades" by Motorhead....

... the list goes on!
