Can someone tell me how to use this program to create a classic vocoder effect? I can import a modulating wav file(speech) and use midi to create a carrier but I can't get the vocals to track with the melody. The only way I can hear what the vocals are saying is if I sustain a note long enough. Your help is appreciated.

I thought you would have learnt a few things from P Diddy (or whatever he calls himself nowadays). I'm absolutely sure he knows how to use a vocoder.

Welcome JLo,
even pros sometimes have to ask
Sorry I can't help you either (?), but here might be one around who even helps someone with such a nick!

wild guess (from looking at it): pull the attacks back to zero? Other than that I'd have to go play with it......you could email EVM.

jlo: I have the Syncoder as well...and I still can't really figure it out either! I'd recommend downloading a dedicated vocoder, such as the (free) Mini-Voctopus and get to grips with that instead as it functions like a real vocoder. The GUI even contains a mini tutorial on how to use it:

If you happen to be using FL Studio, then there is a really cool tutorial file on how to setup a vocoder.
Hope that helps, and welcome to KVR

I have this syncoder and don't really know how to use it either. I know how to route to a vocoder but this thing doesn't seem to work by those conventional methods. I can't remember if it came with a help file of some kind.

the Syncoder is a funny beast as it doesn't (seem to) work in the way a normal vocoder does. It is, after all, a synthesizer/vocoder. There were no instructions that came with it either. I'm sure an email to Etric at EVMSynths will get you the information you and jlo are after. Still, like all the EVM stuff, it makess some great sounds anyway!Debutante wrote:I have this syncoder and don't really know how to use it either. I couldn't get syncoder to work like a traditional vocoder. If you want one for that you have to try out Vokko by Klang Labs, it's awesome. The CM vocoder on the Computer Music disc is very good too. It doesn't have a built in modulator osc, so you have to use another synth as a modulator, but that's actually a bonus imo, it gives you way more possibilities.
