examples creating a new kind of musical or sound structure, not
just as a pure distorting effect...
This track uses particle cloning for the low string sounds and the choir-like sound, using BubbleBlower as syntesizer.
This track uses granular pitch-shifting as time-stretch method. DLGranulator used as pitch-shifter after a detuned guitar sample.

Some very cool examples so far.

Here's a quick track I did recently for a drone tutorial I wrote. All sounds have passed through a granular processor (the bubbleblower in Audiomulch).

Thanks for sharing your work guys ... it's funny that I know
some artists you listed, without thinking that they were
using granular sounds ...

Stepping into the field of creating sound is really something
new to me, after being just a consumer for so many years :)

machines will load into FL Studio, though...

personally, i like pseudograins very much, although in FL it is a little buggy. Anyone use it in eXT? will purchase that most likely in the coming days, so it'd be cool if it was less buggy in there. :)
I might be worng but I.m pretty sure FL doesn't load sample playing machines.. That rules out Granuar synths (like vkr) but not effects.

tetraplan: I really liked silver river, excellent worn down tone and atmosphere to the track.

Thank you.

check also the old Tobybear's Helios, it can still deliver. arm it with short samples and automate "loop hi" and "loop low" parameters. very good to recycle samples.
for mostly the same use, try ArcaneDevice WaveHack, gives more control but no sample pitching.
and as said before, Reason's Malstrom has all the advantages of a granulizing & wave travelling instruments. less oriented to beats but has the chance to obtain hundreds of sounds from a single one.

anyway right now I'm getting shocked by Reaktor's WhiteGrains ensemble, very addictive! :D

I was trying ParticleChamber and the reverb they are refering to isn't
available for puredata anymore - has anyone an alternative setup, since
I just would use this pd patch and can't programm ... Thanks, RS

KTGranulator is brilliant, as is the audiomulch contraption it's based on. I'm a huge fan of Audiomulch's BubbleBlower, so i made a VST equivalent called Granular Sample Player. It's not amazing or anything, and can be quite greedy due to the complex SE structure i made for it, but it can make some nice sounds. If you're interested you can get it here.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I use that one all the time - really amazing possibilities, and the interface lets you really see what's happening. If you haven't already, you should try the Orange Grains .ens (also by Erdle) as well - equally fun (though heavier on the CPU depending on settings).

Another granular VST effect that hasn't been mentioned: GRM Tools Shuffle

nah, it works, just not as well as in eXT or audiomulch.

I  PSEUDOGRAINS ... jammed with two pseudograins and two arcdev dubboxes in audiomulch, last night. :harp:
