Maybe this is old news to everyone around here, but a couple of weeks ago I ordered a condenser microphone from musiciansfriend.com. The reviews were good and it was super cheap ($59 for an MXL990). I finally opened the box this weekend. Wowsa! For $59 bucks I got a case, an awesome shock mount, and a very good condenser mic. Musicians Friend had even thrown in a windscreen and free shipping. It seems like just a few years ago you couldn't get a shock mount like this for less than 59 bucks. And I remember when condenser mics were thousands of dollars each. We live in an amazing day!

Yeah, the Chinese are getting pretty good. I recently got a pair of Superlux mics on a tip from an audio engineering acquaintence. Nice performers! Doing good on my horn recordings thus far:
