i guess i am a t2 fanboy. hey man. its making me money.im showing off my skills, im so fast with it, i just cant wait for some midi transport stuff. i mean its not that bad. ive been making songs with just the midi editor, which for me is tough to use, simply because of it's fluid manipulation... but thats why i love revisit... still waiting for a release that wont crash ;)

Great to hear from you, Grand-daddy Jules - now I know where psychicly to beam feature requests: Victoria BC (a great town btw...)

I downloaded the demo of Live 5 and got a rude reminder of why I chose T: after 30 minutes I still couldn't perform basic editing tasks - run the transport - or know where anything was!!, and I had already paged through 10 or 20 (of hundreds of) tutorial panels!!

the first time i opened up live i was overwhelmed. i bet i didn't keep it open for twenty seconds, then promptly erased the software.

heard about tracktion when i was looking to get rid of the pro tools le setup. decided to go native. tracktion was confusing for me at first until i learned there were some shortcuts to learn. other than that, i was good to go after coming in here and asking a few questions.

i put alot of people through alot of pain and anguish with my stupid questions, but now im recording and editing audio like a master, and running a small island nation, populated by 17 year old virgins and their young mothers. life is good. i'll never have to tie my shoes again...

thanks julian!

definetely pilot-error...

Begone, troll! Begone!! ;) ;)

But you missed the point, jens (not to start another separate debate in a 20-page thread). Tracktion is an airplane that can be flown without going to pilot school. ;)

Tracktion AND eXT are both missing some basic audio editing functionings that would make my life hell for MOST of my kinds of work. But they both feature tools that Tracktion could learn from. ;)

I have to confess, I didn't find Live particularly daunting, actually. I just found it limiting, in Session view. I still promised headquest to try out the arrangement view before I passed judgement as a linear composition tool-- at the time, I wasn't really aware of the arrangement view, so I STILL can't comment intelligently about it.

So you're saying that you've deserted us and that tracktion is doomed?"

:!: Isn't it! I agree with that and most all the fan boy stuff posted by the fan boys (like me).

:?:

The beta version must be code-named T-AI.

Did I say Tracktion and eXT?

I meant to say Live and eXT.

;)

PS, Tracktion is r0XoRz, as is Victoria BC! My dad's half of the family is from BC. Maple Ridge, which isn't quite the same thing, but that neck of the woods in general is sweet!

jens - one example: a difficulty I had in Live was finding how to split audio clips - selecting a clip was not enough - split was greyed out. OK I'll try to split with the play cursor in the selected clip. no... click in the clip window? on my system I have to click on a very specific place just below the title bar of the clip but above the waveform to get the little yellow cursor which lets me split. As to how to scrub that cursor to zero in on the place I wanted to split... god only knows! Having "modal" cursors for different tasks - ie one for playback and one for editing - a zoom cursor etc etc is unnecessary! likewise having the waveform display in both the clip - edit area and th e track... well why? anyway I could go on and on - I'm sure I could learn to use it... but I have so much to learn in music making and life without doing the Live tuitorial!

I don't want to sound like a smart ass, but do people really sit around at their computer going "damn, if only I had this one more feature, I could finally complete my vision!!"

Just friggin' record. Be a musician. Use what you've got.

Comparing T to the clusterfuck that is PTLE/Sonar/Cubase is hilarious, because they're totally different animals. Oh yeah, and T doesn't crash as often either, and doesn't sap cpu cycles like Kryptonite.

don't worry, you don't sound like a smartass :) i can see why people want some of the features that are being requested, but a lot of whining comes out too that is pretty boring. tracktion is very much a professional application, and it's really just rude and selfish when people try to claim otherwise.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
