I'd be interested in checking out 'Baawb' as well. Scorcese goes way back with him, and wasn't Scorcese a camaeraman for Gimme Shelter, or was it Woodstock?

I bet it's a awesome flick, but don't tell me how it ends! :smack:

I've always had a complete loathing of anything Dylan. The man takes himself WAAAAAY too seriously. He's from friggin' Minnesota fer crying out loud. AND he faked that Guthrie accent just to try and sound like his hero. How pretentious is that?

AND, more than anything, he was at the forefront of The Folk Scare of the '60's, where it seemed for a moment that all popular music would turn into folk music <<shudder>>.

Well the prophets of doom will always have room
In a world full of worry and fear
Tipped cigarettes, chemistry sets
And Rudolf the Rednosed reindeer.

Rain on a tin roof
Sounds like a drum
We're shoutin' for freedom today . . . Hey!

So turn on your headlights
And sound your horn
When people get in the way!

I think WE take Dylan more seriously than he himself does?
This is the guy that penned Lay Lady Lay, and If Not For You - trying to keep up with Neil Sedaka for crying out loud!

I always remember that story of Bob Dylan meeting Leonard Cohen backstage somewhere, and Bob says to Leonard "Heeey Leonard, I really dig that song Suzzanne of yours. How long did that take you to write it?" Leonard responds "Well, the juxtapostions and the ambiguity was the toughest part... And not having refrains, but yet invoking the sense of refrains was tricky too. I'd probably say it took about 3 months to do?" Bob nods agreeingly, then Leonard says "I really liked that tune of yours 'Subterrainean Homesick Blues. Very hip, very now. How long did that take you to work out?" And Bob responds "Oh, about 20 minutes I think?"

Not sure about either of those, but I do know he did The Last Waltz (The Band). :)

I just checked Gimme Shelter, and it was George Lucas as one of the camera men on it. So I think it was Woodstock that Scorcese was on then? :?

And yes, well aware of The Last Waltz. Great film! :hihi:

Dylan is a pretentious dick. But I still love his music to death. I don't see what one has to do with the other. John Lennon seems to have been a dick too in his own way, you're crazy if you think I'm giving up on the Beatles.

BTW Steve, great Leonard Cohen story, I never heard that one before.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.
